SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Introduction

The SDGs are a promise made by countries all over the world for sustainable development. The goal also emphasizes the participation and cooperation of various stakeholders, not only governments but also international organizations, civil society, and businesses, not just governments.

The Partnership for SDGs platform is open to all stakeholders, including Member States, civil society, local authorities, private sector, scientific and technological community, academia, and others, to register a voluntary commitment or multi-stakeholder partnership which aims to drive the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to provide periodic updates on progress.

As the world’s population grows and the threats from climate change become more pronounced, the need for sustainable development intensifies. No one country, company, or community has all the answers. That’s why we need to foster partnerships among businesses, governments, and civil society to incubate and accelerate the best ideas for sustainable growth in developing nations.”

JOUF university has the ambition to bring together business, government, and civil society organizations in innovative public-private partnerships to advance solutions to the SDGs that help meet humanity’s greatest needs in five key areas affecting urban centers: food and agriculture, water, energy, cities, and circular economy.

JOUF through partnerships to achieve the SDGs aims to rally leaders from business, government, academia, and NGOs to action for new partnerships that drive inclusive growth and accelerate solutions to the SDGs.

Moreover, we believe that public-private partnerships can accelerate solutions to achieve the SDGs, with a focus on how smart cities can drive success in electric mobility and clean energy access.
