Under the Patronage of the President of Jouf University, “Your University... Your Destination” Transforms Freshman Orientation into an Integrated University Journey Beginning from Day One

Under the patronage of the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, the University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, is launching its freshman orientation program for the 1448 AH academic year under the theme “Your University... Your Destination.” The program offers an integrated and distinctive experience that redefines the concept of welcoming new students, transforming it from a limited orientation event into a connected journey that begins in the students’ first week and combines digital engagement, an official welcome, hands-on experiences, and direct access to university services and opportunities.

The program forms part of the University’s preparations for the new academic year and reflects its commitment to preparing new students for early integration into their academic and social environment. It seeks to create a clearer and more engaging university experience that enables students to become familiar with their colleges, academic programs, campus facilities, systems, and services, while also connecting them with student activities, clubs, volunteering opportunities, sports, and cultural programs that enrich their university journey and develop their skills and capabilities.

The President of Jouf University emphasized that students are at the heart of the educational process and the ultimate focus of the University’s work. He noted that the quality of the student experience does not begin in the classroom alone, but from the very first moment a student enters the University and starts forming an understanding of, impression about, and connection with their new environment.

He added that the program reflects the University’s commitment to building an integrated student experience that helps freshmen begin their academic journey with confidence and awareness and enables them to make full use of the resources, services, and opportunities available to them. He also stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among colleges, deanships, and supporting units to deliver an orientation experience that meets students’ expectations and reflects the University’s values, mission, and commitment to enhancing the quality of university life.

The President welcomed the new students and congratulated them on joining Jouf University and beginning a new stage in their academic journey. He encouraged them to make the most of their university years by learning, participating, developing their skills, building experience, and taking advantage of the programs, initiatives, and activities offered by the University, wishing them a university journey filled with success, excellence, and achievement.

The “Your University... Your Destination” program is founded on a clear vision: welcoming new students should not be limited to a ceremony or a brief introductory meeting, but should instead constitute an integrated pathway that begins with knowledge, strengthens belonging, and ultimately connects students with the services and opportunities they need.

The program focuses on eight main objectives: preparing students for university life; introducing them to their colleges, programs, and facilities; strengthening their sense of belonging to the University; facilitating access to essential services; familiarizing them with activities, clubs, and opportunities; enhancing colleges’ participation in shaping the orientation experience; encouraging creativity and positive competition; and measuring student satisfaction to support the continuous development of future programs.

The program consists of three interconnected phases. The first is the Virtual Launch, implemented by the University’s colleges through their official social media accounts from the students’ first week until August 29, 2026. Each college will launch its own digital campaign in line with the overall identity of the program while being given broad creative freedom to develop its concept and implementation style in a way that reflects its academic identity and responds to the needs of its new students.

The digital campaigns will feature visual introductions to colleges and their facilities, welcome messages involving faculty members and students, clear information about academic programs and pathways, direct answers to the most common questions students face during their first week, practical advice and university experiences, and highlights of available activities, initiatives, and opportunities. The campaigns will also incorporate innovative interactive elements designed to encourage student participation and engagement.

The virtual phase will include a competition to select the best digital launch among the University’s colleges, encouraging them to produce original and innovative content that serves new students and strengthens their connection with their colleges. Entries will be assessed according to specific criteria, including creativity and quality of concept, execution and production standards, usefulness of the content to students, student participation in content creation, diversity and integration of content, and the level of engagement, while taking into account differences in follower numbers among college accounts. This ensures that quality, impact, and usefulness—not views alone—remain central to the evaluation.

The second phase is the Official Launch Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026. The event will serve as the University’s main gathering to welcome its new students, strengthen their connection to the University’s identity, mission, and values, and deliver key messages that help them begin their academic journey with confidence and ambition.

The ceremony will include a speech by the President of Jouf University addressed to new students, an introductory film, the launch of a number of student initiatives and competitions, recognition of colleges and outstanding contributions from the virtual-launch phase, and interactive segments reflecting the vitality of the University environment and the diversity of opportunities available to students.

The ceremony will carry a central message to students:

“You are at your University; this is your destination, and this is where your journey begins.”

The third phase is the “Your University... Your Destination” Exhibition, which will be held at the Social Center from August 31 to September 3, 2026, with the participation of the University’s colleges, deanships, and supporting units. The exhibition will create a practical, open environment where students can access a wide range of services and opportunities in one location.

Rather than relying on traditional informational booths, the exhibition will offer practical experiences designed to answer a direct question: “What do we offer the new student?”

Colleges will introduce students to their academic programs, facilities, academic advising services, and available opportunities. The Deanship of Admission and Registration will provide information related to class schedules, academic records, and essential procedures, while the Deanship of Student Affairs will showcase student clubs, activities, sports and cultural programs, volunteering opportunities, and student services.

University technology units will introduce students to electronic systems, platforms, and digital services, while health and counseling units will present their support services and programs, enabling students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the support ecosystem available to them throughout their university journey.

A key feature of the exhibition will be a dedicated pathway entitled “Get It Done Here,” designed to move students from simply learning about a service to actually benefiting from and completing it during their visit. Through this pathway, students will be able to access university systems and accounts, register for student clubs, join volunteering opportunities, participate in sports and cultural activities, and become familiar with communication channels, support services, and other essential resources.

The aim is for students to leave the exhibition having completed several of their first university steps, registered for opportunities aligned with their interests, and identified the units and services they may need. Accordingly, the success of the program will be measured by the level of actual student benefit, rather than attendance figures alone.

The implementation of the program brings together various University entities. The Deanship of Student Affairs will oversee the overall program, coordinate its phases, manage the competition and exhibition, and measure outcomes. Colleges will lead the virtual-launch phase and participate in the exhibition, while deanships and supporting units will provide student-focused services and experiences. The program will also be comprehensively documented and covered through the University’s media channels, with outstanding contributions highlighted.

Jouf University will adopt a set of indicators to measure the program’s impact, including the percentage of participating colleges, the quality of digital content produced, campaign engagement levels, attendance at the official launch ceremony, exhibition visitor numbers, the number of participating entities, registrations in clubs, activities, and opportunities, student satisfaction rates, and students’ level of awareness of available services and opportunities following the program.

The “Your University... Your Destination” program embodies Jouf University’s commitment to creating a more informed, engaging, and impactful beginning to university life. It is a journey in which students discover their colleges from day one, strengthen their sense of belonging through the official welcome, and gain direct access to services and opportunities through the exhibition—enabling them to begin their university experience with confidence and move, from their very first week, from welcome to participation, and from knowledge to achievement.
