Under the patronage and in the presence of Jouf University President Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, the University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, held its welcoming ceremony for new students for the 1448 AH academic year under the theme “Your University… Your Destination.” The event was attended by University leaders, college deans, faculty members, and a large number of students, reflecting Jouf University’s commitment to ensuring an informed, engaging, and motivating start to university life and introducing students to the services, resources, and opportunities that support their academic journey and develop their talents and capabilities.

The ceremony began with the Saudi national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a visual presentation highlighting the “Your University… Your Destination” program. The program offers an integrated orientation journey beginning from students’ first day at the University, helping them become familiar with their colleges and academic programs, access University systems, platforms, and services, benefit from student clubs, activities, and volunteering opportunities, and strengthen their sense of belonging and participation in campus life.

The program comprises three interconnected phases. The first involves the digital launch of orientation content through colleges, deanships, and administrative units. The second, titled “I Belong to My University,” includes the welcoming ceremony for new students and the launch of various programs and competitions. The third phase culminates in the “Your University… Your Destination” Exhibition, which provides guidance pathways and direct services to help students complete procedures, understand their rights and responsibilities, and explore the opportunities available to them.

The ceremony also witnessed the launch of several innovative initiatives and programs, including “Ethraa”, which aims to simplify academic regulations and procedures and transform them into clear, accessible knowledge for students. Through awareness content covering academic processes, transfers, academic warnings, stipends, and frequently needed procedures, the program seeks to enhance academic awareness, accelerate responses to student inquiries, and reduce avoidable academic issues through early guidance and awareness.

The “Identity and Empowerment” initiative was also launched under the slogan “Awareness Protects, Skills Empower.” The initiative is structured around four main tracks: developing personal, social, and leadership skills; strengthening identity and intellectual awareness; promoting health awareness, prevention, and positive behavior; and advancing artificial intelligence and digital skills. It includes development programs, awareness campaigns, events, and training workshops designed to build well-rounded, aware, and empowered university students.

As part of the University’s efforts to nurture talent and promote a culture of positive competition, the President also launched the Jouf University President’s Annual Competition in the Holy Qur’an and Prophetic Sunnah, the 16th Scientific Forum for Jouf University Students, featuring seven main themes and 30 competitive tracks in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and other fields, as well as the Jouf University Sports Olympiad for the President’s Cup, comprising seven sports, 12 championships, and approximately 140 matches across three categories.

In his address, the University President emphasized that welcoming new students marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between students and their University. Addressing the students, he said:

“My sons and daughters, our new students, welcome to Jouf University. Today, you begin a journey rich in knowledge and learning, through which you will shape your future and contribute to building the future of your nation. You are the seeds of today and the leaders of tomorrow. Raise the name of your nation high, for among you we look forward to seeing the dedicated physician, the inspiring teacher, the creative engineer, the distinguished researcher, the ambitious innovator, and every national talent that contributes through knowledge and work to the advancement of our country and the service of our society.”

Prof. Al-Shaya added:

“For you, the University has created an integrated educational environment and provided the resources and opportunities that support your learning, develop your capabilities in research and innovation, and open new horizons for creativity and excellence. We have also provided student clubs, programs, and activities that develop your character, discover your talents, and strengthen your engagement in university life—so that this becomes the beginning of an inspiring journey whose chapters we write together, creating a lasting impact and achievements of which we can all be proud.”

The ceremony concluded with an awards segment honoring the top-performing colleges. The College of Science secured first place, followed by the College of Business in second place, while the College of Computer and Information Sciences took third place.

The event concluded amid strong student engagement with the programs and initiatives presented, reflecting Jouf University’s commitment to building a comprehensive university experience, empowering students academically and professionally, and expanding their participation in research, innovation, activities, and competitions. These efforts align with the objectives of the University’s Strategic Plan and Saudi Vision 2030, particularly its goals of developing human capabilities and preparing highly competitive national talent.
