Jouf University Council Holds Its Tenth Session, Reviews Readiness for the 1448 AH Academic Year, and Approves an Occupational Safety and Health Memorandum of Understanding

The Jouf University Council held its tenth session, chaired by His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, and attended by the Council members. During the session, the Council discussed a number of academic, administrative, and organizational matters listed on its agenda and adopted the appropriate decisions and recommendations to support the University’s progress, enhance its readiness, improve the efficiency of its institutional performance, and advance the quality of its educational, research, and administrative services.

At the beginning of the session, His Excellency the University President welcomed the Council members and commended their efforts in reviewing the matters presented and supporting development and improvement initiatives across the University’s various sectors. He emphasized the important role of the University Council in developing the academic and administrative systems and adopting decisions that contribute to achieving the University’s objectives and future aspirations.

During the session, the Council reviewed the University’s preparations for the 1448 AH academic year and discussed the readiness of its colleges, deanships, administrative departments, and university facilities. It also reviewed the academic, organizational, technical, and service plans developed to ensure an organized and effective start to the educational process from the first day of the academic year.

The presentation delivered to the Council addressed the readiness of academic programs and courses, the completion of class schedules, the availability of faculty members, and the preparation of classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities. It also covered the readiness of electronic systems and platforms, student and academic advising services, and the facilities and equipment supporting the educational process across the University’s various campuses.

The Council also discussed the procedures for welcoming newly admitted students, preparing them for university life, facilitating their access to academic and electronic services, and familiarizing them with the University’s regulations and policies. In addition, it reviewed student registration procedures, regular attendance in courses, and the activation of academic advising services, all of which contribute to enhancing the student learning experience from the beginning of the academic year.

As part of the University’s efforts to strengthen its institutional partnerships, the Council approved a memorandum of understanding between Jouf University and the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health. The memorandum is intended to expand areas of cooperation, facilitate the exchange of expertise and professional practices, and promote a culture of occupational safety and health within the university environment.

The memorandum aims to support the University’s efforts to develop a safe and sustainable workplace, raise awareness of prevention and occupational risk management, and benefit from specialized expertise in designing awareness and training programs and initiatives. It also seeks to support the development of policies and procedures related to occupational safety and health in accordance with approved national regulations and standards.

The Council further discussed a number of matters related to the scholarships of teaching assistants and lecturers. It reviewed the applications and recommendations submitted in this regard and adopted the appropriate decisions in accordance with the applicable scholarship regulations and in line with the academic and scientific needs of the University’s colleges and departments.

The Council also addressed several academic matters related to developing the educational process, enhancing the quality of academic programs and outcomes, and improving academic procedures. In addition, it discussed a number of administrative and organizational matters aimed at increasing performance efficiency, developing the work environment, and strengthening integration among the University’s sectors.

His Excellency explained that the University follows an institutional approach based on planning, performance measurement, continuous monitoring, and translating decisions and recommendations into clear implementation plans. He emphasized the importance of defining responsibilities, timeframes, and performance indicators to ensure that the intended impact of the Council’s decisions is achieved.

At the conclusion of the session, His Excellency the University President commended the efforts of the Council members and all sectors and committees that contributed to preparing and reviewing the matters presented. He stressed the importance of continuing to work as one team, strengthening integration among the University’s various sectors, and mobilizing available resources and capabilities to provide high-quality academic and administrative services.

He added that these efforts support the aspirations of students and University staff and reinforce Jouf University’s position as an effective educational, research, and development institution contributing to the achievement of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
