Under the Patronage of the Governor of Al Jouf Region, Jouf University Hosts the Forum “Scientific Research and Its Role in Sustainability in the Al Jouf Region” and Showcases Innovative Research Solutions Serving Energy, Environment, and Health

Under the gracious patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Al Jouf Region, and with the attendance and close follow-up of the President of Jouf University, Professor Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, the University hosted the forum “Scientific Research and Its Role in Sustainability in the Al Jouf Region.” The event reflects the University’s firm commitment to strengthening the applied scientific research ecosystem and linking research outputs to sustainable development priorities, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

In his address, the President of the University expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz for his generous patronage of the forum and his continued support for the University’s scientific and research journey. He emphasized that this patronage serves as a strong motivation to further develop scientific research and enhance its role in serving people, the environment, and national development The President affirmed that organizing the forum falls within the University’s strategic direction to promote applied scientific research and align it with community needs and sustainable development requirements. He noted that the University is actively supporting researchers, expanding research partnerships, and stimulating innovation in ways that contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and its programs—most notably the Human Capability Development Program and the Quality of Life Program.

The event commenced with the President’s inauguration of the accompanying scientific exhibition, where he toured the various pavilions and listened to detailed briefings from researchers and faculty members on the nature of the displayed research and projects, their readiness for application, and their anticipated impact on society, the environment, and the local economy The exhibition featured high-quality research models reflecting interdisciplinary integration across the University. The Energy Research Pavilion, presented by the College of Science, showcased advanced research on hydrogen production as a promising clean energy source that contributes to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition toward a green economy. The Environmental Research Pavilion, also presented by the College of Science, introduced the Olive Waste Recycling project and its use in sustainable applications—an exemplary research model that enhances the utilization of local resources and supports circular economy principles. Another highlight was a technological environmental project presented by the College of Science, featuring a smart website for plant disease diagnosis based on digital technologies and artificial intelligence, contributing to agricultural sector support and food security.

 In the health domain, the President reviewed the pavilion of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, which presented a Platform for Evaluation using a specialized device for patient preparation, training, and response measurement—enhancing the quality of medical rehabilitation programs and supporting the shift toward smart healthcare. The College of Medicine also participated with advanced research, including AI-based diagnosis of dermatological diseases, early detection of cancer, and artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, reflecting the University’s orientation toward medical innovation and improving quality of life.

The exhibition also included a pavilion of the General Secretariat of Endowments, which highlighted its efforts in supporting research and development initiatives with sustainable impact and strengthening community partnerships that support research and innovation.

Academically, the forum featured four specialized scientific sessions addressing key themes: scientific research and its role in achieving sustainability; community research and human development; health research and sustainable development; and energy research. These sessions brought together a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and specialists, with active attendance and follow-up by the President of the University, who emphasized the importance of transforming session recommendations into research initiatives and applied programs that serve the region.

This forum embodies Jouf University’s commitment to consolidating its position as an active academic and research institution in achieving sustainability, and to providing innovative scientific solutions that contribute to building a sustainable future for the Al Jouf Region—supporting the Kingdom’s aspirations toward a prosperous economy, a vibrant society, and an ambitious nation.
