In a distinguished national scene that reflects the deep commitment of the Kingdom’s wise leadership—may God support it—to the education and research sectors, and under the patronage and in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Al Jouf Region, Jouf University organized the Research and Innovation Forum. The event was attended by esteemed officials, academic leaders, and a select group of experts, researchers, and specialists at the university campus, in a high-level scientific gathering that underscores the university’s standing and its pivotal role in supporting the national innovation ecosystem.

The organization of this forum affirms Jouf University’s strategic direction toward fostering a culture of research, development, and innovation, while strengthening the alignment between its scientific outputs and societal needs. This contributes to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, building a knowledge-based economy driven by creativity and sustainability, and transforming knowledge into impactful developmental value.

Jouf University expressed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to His Royal Highness the Prince of Al Jouf Region for his generous patronage and presence, emphasizing that such support reflects His Highness’s continuous commitment to advancing the university’s journey and empowering its academic and research programs. It also highlights his dedication to enabling the university to fulfill its developmental role in serving the region and the nation, in line with his forward-looking vision of supporting qualitative initiatives and investing in human capital and knowledge.

For his part, the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, extended his highest appreciation to His Royal Highness, noting that this patronage serves as a strong motivation to further enhance institutional excellence and strengthen research and innovation outputs in alignment with the university’s strategic goals.

In his speech during the opening ceremony, the University President emphasized that the Research and Innovation Forum embodies the university’s vision of becoming an advanced scientific and interactive platform that highlights the role of research and innovation in achieving sustainable development. He noted that the forum aims to transform research outputs into impactful applied solutions that address the priorities of Al Jouf Region, support the national economy, and enhance the Kingdom’s global competitiveness.

He further added that through this forum, the university seeks to promote a culture of research and innovation aligned with societal needs, stimulate effective partnerships across academic, governmental, and private sectors, and highlight its role in contributing to economic and social development. The forum also sheds light on priority research and innovation initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 programs, particularly in the areas of Quality of Life, Human Capability Development, and environmental sustainability.

The opening ceremony featured a comprehensive program, beginning with the inauguration of the accompanying exhibition, followed by the national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. A visual presentation showcasing the university’s journey and achievements was then delivered, preceding the launch of two strategic initiatives representing key pillars of its future direction:
“Al Jouf Toward Sustainability | Renewed Research… Sustainable Development” and
“Innovated Impact, Created Value.” These initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to transforming research into development projects with direct and sustainable impact.

The “Al Jouf Toward Sustainability” initiative focuses on advancing sustainable development in the region by supporting research aimed at providing innovative solutions to developmental challenges, particularly in energy, environment, health, tourism, and quality of life, thereby supporting evidence-based decision-making.

Meanwhile, the “Innovated Impact, Created Value” initiative aims to incubate promising scientific innovations and empower researchers and innovators to transform their ideas into market-ready products, enhancing the innovation ecosystem, supporting technology transfer, and contributing to a knowledge-based economy.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements with leading national entities, including the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), Sakaka Solar Energy Company, and the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha’at). These partnerships aim to strengthen strategic collaboration, develop human capabilities, align educational outcomes with labor market needs, and support innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with the National Industrial Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.

The accompanying exhibition served as an interactive platform showcasing key research and innovations in energy, environment, and human health, as well as the outputs of the Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Chair for Sustainable Development, reflecting the integration of research efforts with development needs and highlighting the university’s rich scientific capabilities.

At the level of scientific sessions, the forum addressed several vital topics shaping the future of development, including the integration of artificial intelligence with social responsibility, technology transfer in the healthcare sector, and medical research and innovation. Topics also included AI applications in medical diagnostics, innovation in medical technologies and devices, and the sustainability of healthcare systems.

The forum brought together a distinguished group of academics, experts, and specialists from various fields, who contributed valuable scientific insights and practical experiences that enriched discussions and enhanced knowledge exchange.

The forum will continue over two days, reaffirming Jouf University’s advanced position as a leading academic and research institution that actively contributes to the national transformation journey. It also highlights the growing role of research and innovation as a fundamental pillar in building a prosperous and sustainable future based on knowledge and aligned with the Kingdom’s aspirations for global leadership.
