In Response to the Directives of HRH Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Prince of Al Jouf Region, Jouf University Holds a Training Program on Professional Volunteering
Jouf University held a training program titled “Professional Volunteering: Designing Initiatives and Maximizing Impact,” delivered by Dr. Waleed bin Saad Al-Hussaini, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, with the attendance of more than 45 academic and administrative leaders from the University. The program comes as part of the University’s efforts to promote a culture of quality volunteering, develop initiatives with sustainable community impact, and invest academic and administrative expertise in serving the community.
The program was implemented in response to the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al Jouf Region, aimed at strengthening professional volunteering and enabling entities and institutions to transform volunteering into an organized institutional practice based on expertise and knowledge, contributing to addressing challenges, improving service quality, and maximizing developmental impact in the region.
The program focused on the concept of professional volunteering as one of the advanced qualitative tracks of volunteer work, moving beyond general participation toward utilizing specialized expertise and skills in designing professional initiatives with clear objectives, measurable outputs, and sustainable impact. It also addressed mechanisms for designing professional volunteering opportunities, the role of leaders in enabling them, methods for managing professional volunteers, and the development of impact measurement indicators, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in advancing volunteer work and promoting community participation.
President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, affirmed that holding this program reflects the University’s commitment to activating its developmental and community role, and translates the directives of HRH the Governor of Al Jouf Region in supporting qualitative initiatives that serve the community and enhance quality of life.
The University President added that Jouf University continues to develop its community and volunteer initiatives in line with its strategic plan, by empowering University leaders and staff to design higher-quality and more sustainable initiatives, and by directing academic and administrative expertise toward addressing community needs, supporting innovation, improving services, and enhancing the efficiency of community impact.
For his part, Dr. Waleed bin Saad Al-Hussaini, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and presenter of the program, explained that the program aims to build an integrated leadership understanding of professional volunteering and enable participants to transform ideas and initiatives into professional volunteering opportunities that are implementable and measurable. He noted that professional volunteering relies on investing specialized expertise across various fields, including planning, governance, data analysis, research and studies, impact measurement, institutional communication, digital transformation, and sustainability.
The program witnessed active engagement from the participating academic and administrative leaders, as attendees discussed a number of practical models for designing professional volunteering opportunities and ways to link them to the needs of the University and the community. This contributes to strengthening integration between education, scientific research, and social responsibility, while opening broader horizons for developing qualitative initiatives with tangible and sustainable impact.
This program comes within Jouf University’s direction toward reinforcing the concept of a socially responsible university and enhancing its contribution to serving Al Jouf Region through capacity building, developing institutional practices, and investing the expertise of its staff in professional volunteering initiatives that support the University’s strategic objectives and Saudi Vision 2030.
