His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received the Dean and Vice Deans of the College of Computer and Information Sciences. During the meeting, His Excellency reviewed the College’s annual report for the 1447 AH academic year, which documented notable achievements and performance indicators in teaching and learning, scientific research and innovation, academic accreditation, partnerships, community service, institutional development, and governance, as well as the College’s targets for the 1448 AH academic year.

The report highlighted the development of the College’s academic portfolio, which comprises four bachelor’s programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering and Networks, and Software Engineering, in addition to a master’s program in Cybersecurity. All the College’s programs are academically accredited, representing a 100% accreditation rate, while three programs have received international accreditation from ABET. This reflects the College’s commitment to quality standards and its efforts to develop its academic outcomes and align them with the needs of the labor market and digital economy.

The report also presented several indicators related to the quality of the educational process. The student retention rate reached 92.7%, while student satisfaction stood at 88.6%. The College enrolled 1,112 undergraduate students and 35 postgraduate students and recorded 157 graduates during the academic year. The report also reviewed the College’s efforts to enhance academic advising, improve graduate readiness, expand cooperative training opportunities, and align academic programs with the technical and professional skills required by the labor market.

In scientific research and innovation, the report documented the publication of 261 research papers that received 11,781 citations. Approximately 42% of these papers were published in first-quartile (Q1) journals, while 38 were ranked among the world’s top 10% most-cited research papers. Ten faculty members were also listed among the world’s top 2% most influential scientists. In addition, the College registered two international patents in the United States and Germany in the fields of biometric authentication and intelligent diagnostic healthcare systems.

The report highlighted the College’s contribution to community service and the dissemination of technical knowledge through 59 community initiatives and activities that benefited 4,684 people. These initiatives covered cybersecurity awareness, digital literacy, technical skills development, and enhanced readiness among students and graduates. Such efforts strengthen the College’s community impact and harness its areas of expertise to support digital transformation and human capability development.

His Excellency also reviewed the College’s efforts to build partnerships and develop cooperation opportunities with national organizations and technology companies, as well as the international rankings achieved by its academic programs. Computer Science and Information Systems were ranked in the 451–500 band in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, while Computer Science was placed in the 501–600 band in the Times Higher Education rankings. These results support the University’s objectives of strengthening its academic and research competitiveness and expanding its international presence.

The meeting also reviewed the College’s targets for the 1448 AH academic year. These include improving graduate performance in readiness assessments, completing full local and international academic accreditation for all programs, expanding cooperative training opportunities, increasing publications in highly ranked scientific journals, enhancing research citations, registering new patents, and including all the College’s programs in global rankings. The targets also include developing technology partnerships, expanding investment and consultancy opportunities, and advancing digital transformation and e-governance.

His Excellency emphasized the importance of building on the achievements made and directing programs and initiatives toward measurable impact in educational quality, research and innovation, graduate readiness, and community service. He also underscored the pivotal role of the College of Computer and Information Sciences in supporting digital transformation, developing competitive national talent, and creating technological solutions that serve development sectors.

The annual report review forms part of the University’s ongoing monitoring of its colleges’ performance and efforts to align their operational plans with its strategic objectives, which focus on high-quality outcomes, research and innovation excellence, an enhanced university experience, stronger partnerships, and sustainability. These efforts contribute to achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, supporting the digital economy, and building a competitive and sustainable knowledge-based society.
