As part of Jouf University's commitment to investing in human capital, strengthening the efficiency of its academic system, and fostering a culture of quality and excellence, His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, attended the Orientation Program for New Faculty Members and Those Returning from Scholarships for the academic year 1448 AH.
Organized by the Deanship of Development and Quality, the program aims to enhance faculty readiness, facilitate their effective integration into the university environment, and enable them to contribute to achieving the University's strategic objectives while advancing educational outcomes, scientific research, innovation, and community service.
During the event, His Excellency emphasized that faculty members are central to academic development and essential partners in achieving institutional excellence. He noted that the University's aspirations for outstanding achievements in education, research, and innovation depend fundamentally on the capabilities of its academic staff and their ability to translate knowledge into tangible benefits for students, society, and national development.
His Excellency stated:
“We regard faculty members as partners in shaping the University's future, driving its achievements, and realizing its aspirations. Their responsibilities extend beyond imparting knowledge to developing capabilities, fostering critical and creative thinking, producing impactful scientific research, and contributing innovative solutions to development challenges. Academic excellence, therefore, is not an individual endeavor but a shared institutional responsibility, where faculty competence and the quality of the educational and research environment complement one another.”
He further highlighted the University's strong commitment to developing and empowering its faculty members, recognizing their vital role in improving educational quality, strengthening research competitiveness, expanding community impact, and embedding quality assurance and academic accreditation practices. These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives of developing human capabilities and building a competitive knowledge-based economy.
His Excellency also welcomed the new faculty members and those returning from scholarships, emphasizing the importance of leveraging the knowledge, expertise, and international academic experiences they have acquired. He encouraged them to apply these experiences to developing academic programs, adopting modern teaching approaches, advancing research and innovation, and fostering a university environment that inspires creativity and excellence.
The event included an introductory presentation outlining the orientation program, organized by the Deanship of Development and Quality on October 18–19, 2026.
The program features 13 professional development sessions covering a comprehensive range of topics, including academic and employment rights and responsibilities, university regulations and policies, educational quality and academic accreditation, e-learning and digital services, academic advising, scientific research, academic promotion, innovation and intellectual property, professional development, community service, and volunteer work.
The program reflects Jouf University's ongoing efforts to provide faculty members with a comprehensive professional experience from the outset of their academic careers. It also seeks to equip them with the knowledge, institutional resources, and organizational support necessary to enhance their teaching and research performance and actively contribute to the University's strategic priorities, thereby advancing sustainable institutional development, improving the quality of academic outcomes, and strengthening competitiveness at both national and international levels.
Ultimately, the initiative reflects Jouf University's commitment to moving beyond academic orientation toward empowering faculty members to create meaningful and lasting impact. It reinforces the belief that building a competitive and influential university begins with investing in people and cultivating an academic environment capable of transforming strategic ambitions into sustainable achievements in education, research, and community development.
