Minister of Communications and Information Technology Visits Jouf University and Reviews Its Key Research Achievements in Environment, Energy, and Health

His Excellency the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha, was received today by His Excellency Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, President of Jouf University, as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the university and the ministry in the fields of scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The minister was welcomed by a number of the university’s vice presidents, deans of colleges and supporting deanships, vice deans, department heads, and directors. The University President expressed his appreciation for the distinguished guest and his delegation, stressing that the visit reflects the strong support the university receives from the wise leadership and from His Excellency the Minister. He noted that it is an important opportunity to showcase the university’s research and innovation achievements and to open new horizons for fruitful collaboration in science and technology.

Following the reception, His Excellency the Minister toured the exhibition organized by the university for this occasion, which included specialized sections highlighting its achievements in the areas of environment, energy, and health—key national priorities aligned with societal needs and future challenges.

  • Environment: The university presented applied research addressing sustainability, waste management, and recycling, as well as innovations in combating pollution and preserving natural resources.
  • Energy: Exhibits featured research models in renewable energy such as solar and wind, alongside projects aimed at improving energy efficiency and supporting the Kingdom’s transition toward a green economy.
  • Health: The exhibition showcased medical research and innovative health technologies, including solutions for chronic and complex diseases, as well as advanced studies in treatment and diagnostics using modern biotechnologies.

Interactive screens displayed accurate statistics on the number of internationally published research papers attributed to the university over the past five years, growth in citation rates, as well as the number of registered patents and their distribution across research fields.

His Excellency the Minister expressed his delight at the outstanding research accomplishments showcased in the exhibition, praising the remarkable efforts of Jouf University to strengthen its position in research and innovation. He emphasized that the university is progressing confidently toward becoming a scientific and knowledge hub aligned with the Kingdom’s digital and developmental transformation. He further affirmed that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will continue to support these efforts by linking research outcomes with the needs of the communications and technology sector, thereby positively contributing to national development.

For his part, the University President confirmed that the minister’s visit represents a qualitative addition to the university’s journey and significant support for its research and innovation endeavors.
