Jouf University has achieved a new international milestone by winning five medals—two gold, one silver, and two bronze—during its participation in the 12th International Exhibition of Inventions “IEI 2026,” held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China. The achievement reflects the excellence of the University’s students and their growing ability to develop high-quality innovations that integrate scientific knowledge with advanced technologies and provide practical solutions to health, technological, and societal challenges.
The University concluded its participation with an impressive tally of five medals awarded to five student innovations involving 11 male and female students across the fields of artificial intelligence, health technologies, telecommunications, unmanned aerial vehicles, and biotechnology. This diverse range of achievements demonstrates the breadth of student innovation at Jouf University and the ability of its students to compete successfully at international events.
The first gold medal was awarded to an innovation that utilizes artificial intelligence technologies to support children with autism spectrum disorders and hearing impairment. The project was developed by student Fadiah Atallah Al-Ruwaili, along with students Zaid Ali Al-Harbi and Hatem Ahmed Al-Rashed. The innovation demonstrates how advanced technologies can be harnessed to develop assistive solutions tailored to the needs of this group and contribute to improving their quality of life, combining humanitarian impact with technological advancement.
Jouf University received its second gold medal for the project “An Innovative Drone Platform for Extending Wireless Coverage,” developed by student Osama Hani Al-Ruwaili. The project introduces an innovative technological concept that utilizes unmanned aerial vehicles to improve the efficiency of communication networks and extend wireless coverage, highlighting the ability of University students to understand emerging technologies and develop promising applications.
In the field of patient safety, the “MedSense – An Intelligent System for Detecting and Alerting Drug Interactions to Enhance Patient Safety” project won the silver medal. The project was developed by students Kadi Ali Al-Bayali and Ne’mah Saad Al-Anzi. It provides an intelligent solution for detecting and issuing alerts regarding potential drug interactions, thereby contributing to improved medication safety and promoting the use of smart and digital solutions in the healthcare sector.
The innovation “An AI-Powered Smart Lens for Detecting the Risk of Keratoconus” received a bronze medal. The project was developed by students Saud Ayman Al-Hazim, Azzam Ayman Al-Hazim, Rayan Riyadh Al-Washih, and Abdulrahman Saud Al-Balwan, under the supervision of Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Mulhim. The innovation employs artificial intelligence to support the detection of risks associated with keratoconus, demonstrating the integration of medical knowledge with advanced technological solutions.
The University’s medal tally was completed with another bronze medal awarded to the innovation “A Bio-Therapeutic Dressing Loaded with Ara Plant Essential Oil for Wound Care and Skin Protection Applications,” developed by student Enas Hamad Al-Ruwaili. The project was supervised by Dr. Emad bin Mohammed Munni, Dr. Abdullah bin Faleh Al-Sarhani, Dr. Mudathir Farouq Hussein, Dr. Hazem Mohammed Ali, and Dr. Sami Abdulhamid Salim. The innovation highlights the potential of natural resources and biotechnology in developing promising therapeutic applications for wound care and skin protection.
On this occasion, President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, affirmed that this achievement represents an extension of the generous support provided by the wise leadership—may Allah preserve it—to the education, research, and innovation sectors, as well as the continuous support and follow-up of the Ministry of Education. He noted that this support has contributed to creating a stimulating university environment for creativity and enabling students to develop their ideas into innovations capable of competing and earning recognition on international platforms.
The University President stated that the diversity of the award-winning innovations reflects the quality of integration among scientific, health, and technological disciplines and underscores the importance of collaboration between students and faculty members in developing more mature and impactful innovation projects. He congratulated the winning students and expressed his appreciation for the supervisors, faculty members, and supporting teams whose efforts contributed to achieving this distinguished result.
