Jouf University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services to Support the National Innovation Ecosystem in the Transport and Logistics Sector

In a strategic move that reflects the Kingdom's drive to empower innovation and develop the transportation and logistics system, and within the framework of strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and the governmental agencies, and achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 aimed at building a competitive knowledge economy based on innovation and entrepreneurship, Jouf University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. The Memorandum aims to support the national innovation system in the transportation and logistics sector by activating the university' role as an effective knowledge partner and leveraging the university' research and academic expertise in evaluating and incubating contributions within the university' innovation system.

The signing of this memorandum comes within the context of a strategic direction by both parties to strengthen the frameworks of  joint cooperation, integrate efforts in developing human capital, invest in the creative energies of young people, and enable them to develop innovative solutions that contribute to the advancement of the transportation and logistics sector, one of the most vital sectors with a direct economic impact.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by His Excellency, the Assistant Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Mr. Ahmed bin Sufyan, representing the Ministry of Transport, and His Excellency, the President of the University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, representing Jouf University.

The memorandum aims to enhance scientific, research, and innovation cooperation between the two parties in the fields of transportation and logistics services.

The memorandum stipulates several specific areas of cooperation, including:

  •  Scientific and technical consultations to evaluate entries.
  • Providing training programs and workshops for participants.
  • Supporting outstanding entries by incubating them in the business incubators and laboratories affiliated with the Business Center and providing guidance and advice.
  • Exchanging information and expertise in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and modern transportation methods.

This cooperation reflects Jouf University' commitment to strengthening its role as a leading educational institution in serving national development issues by leveraging its scientific and research capabilities to support vital sectors and empower youth to create change and achieve leadership in future fields.

This memorandum also affirms the Ministry of Transport and Logistics' commitment to adopting an open innovation approach and openness to knowledge partnerships to develop the transportation and logistics system in the Kingdom. This will contribute to raising performance efficiency, achieving sustainability, and enhancing the sector's competitiveness at the regional and global levels.

This partnership is part of the joint efforts between academic institutions and government agencies to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and activate the role of the universities as key drivers of knowledge and economic development, and as incubators for national talent and innovation.
