The college organized a training workshop on gene expression

As part of its efforts to enhance students’ scientific and research skills, the College of Applied Medical Sciences, represented by the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, organized a specialized workshop entitled “Gene Expression,” targeting male and female students of the college. This initiative comes within the college’s ongoing commitment to strengthening practical aspects of medical education.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Ziad Al-Anazi, who presented the fundamentals of gene expression and its mechanisms, with a focus on the concept of complementary DNA (cDNA) synthesis and its importance in molecular and diagnostic studies. The session also included a clear explanation of the steps involved in synthesizing cDNA from RNA and its role in gene expression analysis.

In addition, the workshop featured hands-on training sessions on the use of the Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) device. Students were trained on operating procedures, sample preparation, and result interpretation, contributing to the development of their laboratory and technical skills in biotechnology.

The workshop witnessed active participation from students, who engaged effectively in both theoretical and practical components, reflecting a high level of interest and interaction that supported the achievement of its learning objectives.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the college deanship reaffirmed its commitment to organizing such high-quality training programs aimed at preparing scientifically and practically qualified graduates capable of keeping pace with rapid advancements in medical sciences, in alignment with labor market needs and Saudi Vision 2030 goals in supporting innovation and scientific research.
