The unit aims to ensure the quality, reliability, and integrity of data assets through the implementation of best practices in Data Governance and Management.
Data Governance:
- Develop the Strategic Plan for Data Governance, Management, and Protection at the university.
- Formulate Operational Plans to translate strategic objectives into actionable and measurable initiatives.
- Develop and regularly update Policies, Controls, and Guidelines related to Data Governance, Management, and Protection.
- Disseminate approved policies to all relevant entities and departments across the university to ensure unified implementation and compliance.
- Prepare Periodic Reports to monitor progress, measure effectiveness, and assess alignment with national standards and NDMO controls.
Data Management:
Implement Data Management Practices through the following functions:
• Data Assets Management
• Data Architecture and Modelling
• Reference and Master Data Management
• Metadata Management
• Data Catalog
• Data Quality ManagementPrepare Follow-up Reports to assess implementation, monitor maturity levels, and identify areas for improvement.
This unit focuses on maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of personal and sensitive data, ensuring full compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and the NDMO Data Protection Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and periodically update Personal Data Protection Policies and Controls.
Coordinate with Data Owners and Stewards to classify protection levels according to Data Sensitivity and Criticality.
Monitor compliance with national Data Protection standards and specifications, prepare Compliance Reports, and propose corrective actions.
Conduct Risk Assessments for data processing activities and establish mitigation plans.
Promote awareness and capacity-building among university staff on data privacy and protection practices.
This unit focuses on enabling secure and controlled access to data within and outside the university in line with Data Sharing and Interoperability (DSI) and Open Data (OD) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Data Sharing and Open Data Policies as well as Freedom of Information (FOI) procedures.
Supervise Open Data initiatives, Data Access Requests, and Data Sharing Agreements.
Ensure security and privacy compliance prior to publishing or sharing data.
Track and evaluate the impact of data sharing on academic and administrative decision-making.
This unit ensures the university’s adherence to Data Governance and Management Policies and the Personal Data Protection Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and evaluate the Compliance Level of all university entities (colleges, deanships, and departments) with Data Governance and Protection Policies.
Prepare Compliance Reports showing each entity’s adherence level, gaps, and recommendations.
Follow up on Corrective Actions and improvement plans resulting from internal reviews.
Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to maintain Continuous Compliance with NDMO requirements.
The unit aims to empower decision-making through advanced data analysis and the delivery of accurate and reliable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop Interactive Dashboards and Analytical Reports to support evidence-based decisions.
Utilize Advanced Analytics Tools to monitor and measure Institutional Performance Indicators.
Enhance the analytical capabilities of university units and promote the use of data in strategic planning.
Continuously monitor and improve the Quality of Analytical Data.
