Jouf University has achieved a new international distinction by winning the “Blackboard Catalyst Awards 2026” in the “Teaching Excellence” category, recognizing the University’s institutional efforts to advance teaching and learning, effectively leverage digital technologies to enhance the student experience, and improve the quality of learning outcomes. The achievement further supports the University’s strategic objectives in academic excellence, digital transformation, and continuous improvement.
On this occasion, the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, honored the team involved in achieving the award, in recognition of their efforts and the integration of their roles in implementing the project. The achievement reflects a model of institutional collaboration that brings together academic development, technology, performance measurement, and the transformation of assessment results into informed decisions and practices that contribute to improving the educational process.
The achievement is particularly significant as the Catalyst Awards recognize distinguished and innovative practices and experiences across the global Blackboard education community. The awards highlight initiatives that create meaningful impact in teaching and learning while promoting the exchange of successful practices and expertise. The Teaching Excellence category specifically recognizes experiences that combine high-quality teaching practices, purposeful learning design, and the effective use of digital technologies to enhance the student experience and improve learning outcomes.
Jouf University received the award for its institutional project utilizing the Blackboard Ultra platform to enhance students’ readiness for examinations and advance assessment practices. The project was led by the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, in collaboration with colleges, academic programs, and supporting teams. It was developed as part of an institutional approach aimed at unifying student preparation efforts, improving consistency in academic practices across the University, and establishing an integrated framework that combines preparation, assessment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
The project leveraged the digital environment to monitor students’ readiness levels, analyze their performance, and link assessment results to the identification of actual needs and the provision of targeted academic support. This strengthened the ability of academic programs to identify areas for improvement and make data-informed decisions, while moving from short-term interventions toward sustainable institutional practices that can be measured, developed, and scaled.
The project contributed to measurable improvements in the performance of several academic programs across successive assessment cycles. It also enhanced coordination among the various stakeholders involved in the educational process, strengthened preparation, monitoring, and assessment mechanisms, and reinforced a culture of continuous improvement within academic programs. Accordingly, the award reflects an integrated institutional approach that extends beyond the technical use of the platform toward more effective management of the educational process and the use of data to improve learning outcomes.
Winning the award directly supports several of Jouf University’s strategic objectives, foremost among them enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, improving the student experience, advancing learning outcomes, accelerating digital transformation, increasing the effectiveness of academic practices, and supporting data-driven decision-making. It also contributes to fostering a culture of innovation and institutional excellence and strengthening the University’s competitiveness nationally and internationally.
The achievement also demonstrates the University’s success in transforming digital transformation from the mere use of systems and platforms into a strategic tool for improving performance and measuring impact. This has been achieved by developing more consistent and sustainable educational practices, utilizing technological capabilities to support students and academic programs, and linking development initiatives to measurable and monitorable performance indicators.
The President’s recognition of the achievement team further reflects the University’s commitment to valuing talent and recognizing those who contribute to institutional success, while reinforcing a culture of teamwork and integration among academic, administrative, and technical units. It also serves to encourage high-impact initiatives that contribute to achieving the University’s strategic objectives and enhancing the quality of its performance. The achievement was not the result of an individual effort, but rather the outcome of institutional collaboration involving the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, colleges, academic programs, and supporting teams.
This international recognition adds to Jouf University’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of the educational process and adopt advanced practices in digital learning and assessment. It also strengthens the University’s presence in international forums as an institution committed to transforming educational innovation into measurable results and sustainable impact, contributing to the preparation of graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to compete effectively and contribute to national development and the achievement of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
