Jouf University Participates with the Emirate of Al-Jouf Region, Dumat Al-Jandal Governorate, and Dumat Al-Jandal General Hospital in the “We Care About Your Health” Initiative for Early Detection of Eye Diseases and Enhancing Community Health Awareness

As part of its firm commitment to promoting community health and enhancing quality of life, Jouf University—represented by the University Hospital Administration and University Clinics—participated in the “We Care About Your Health” initiative launched by the Emirate of Al-Jouf Region and Dumat Al-Jandal Governorate, in collaboration with Dumat Al-Jandal General Hospital. The initiative aims to raise community awareness about common eye diseases, provide early screening services, and deliver preventive and educational programs targeting all segments of society. This participation comes as an extension of the University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its medical, service, and research roles, and to reinforce its position as a key partner in health initiatives supporting the regional healthcare system. It also aligns with the University’s strategic plan, which emphasizes health promotion, preventive programs, and integrated cooperation with healthcare institutions in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

The specialized medical teams at the University Hospital and University Clinics provided a comprehensive package of services during the initiative, including:

  • Comprehensive eye examinations to assess eye health and detect early signs of eye diseases.
  • Visual acuity testing using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Assessment of early indicators of common eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, and refractive errors.
  • Referral of cases requiring advanced diagnostic evaluations to specialized clinics at the University Hospital.
  • Dispensing necessary medications for cases requiring immediate treatment according to approved medical protocols.

Offering educational and awareness sessions to visitors on preventive eye care, proper eye health practices, the importance of periodic screening, and factors affecting vision in children and adults.

These efforts collectively contributed to raising health awareness among attendees and enabled early medical interventions that led to the detection of several cases requiring further follow-up—thereby reinforcing the University’s role in reducing long-term complications of eye diseases.

The University Hospital Administration affirmed that its participation in this initiative stems from its commitment to community service and its vision of providing integrated healthcare and educational services through effective partnerships with governmental and health institutions. This contributes to strengthening healthcare integration and enhancing the efficiency of preventive screening and awareness programs.The University further emphasized that this initiative represents one of its key pathways for supporting preventive healthcare, reducing chronic disease risks, and implementing evidence-based medical practices that improve population health and ensure sustainability of health programs in the region.On this occasion, His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Emir of Al-Jouf Region—may Allah preserve him—for his continued support of health and developmental programs and initiatives. He affirmed that this initiative serves as an effective model of integration between governmental sectors in serving the community.

His Excellency stressed that the University will continue its participation in health initiatives aimed at strengthening public awareness, developing preventive services, and providing impactful programs that ensure sustainable benefits for the community.He added that the University places great importance on preventive health programs, considering health awareness enhancement as one of its strategic priorities in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the significance of public health and quality of life. He further noted that the participation in the “We Care About Your Health” initiative is a practical example of integrated efforts between the University and health sectors in the region, contributing to early disease detection, strengthening preventive practices, and deepening the concept of community partnership.He also highlighted that the services provided by the University Hospital and University Clinics reflect the high level of excellence achieved by the University in both preventive and clinical fields, underscoring its national role in supporting the healthcare system.This initiative underscores the leading role of Jouf University in serving the community by providing high-quality health services, implementing preventive programs, and launching initiatives that promote health awareness—reflecting the University’s strategic vision of building a well-informed and healthy society and strengthening the region’s preventive healthcare system.
