On the occasion of World Pharmacists Day, celebrated annually on September 25, Dr. Sami bin Ibrahim Al-Zarae, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Jouf University, highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in promoting public health and advancing healthcare services.
He emphasized the significant evolution of the pharmacy profession, from traditional medication dispensing to active participation in patient care. Pharmacists play an essential role in ensuring the safe and rational use of medicines, monitoring drug interactions and adverse effects, and contributing to pharmaceutical security and local drug manufacturing.
The Dean also highlighted the importance of pharmaceutical research and development in supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He emphasized the responsibility of pharmacy colleges to prepare qualified national graduates equipped with scientific knowledge, professional skills, and research capabilities to address national healthcare needs and serve society.
Addressing pharmacy students, he encouraged them to pursue continuous learning, develop their professional and communication skills, and embrace their responsibilities toward society.
He concluded by congratulating all pharmacists in Saudi Arabia and acknowledging their valuable contributions to public health, emphasizing that investing in pharmacists is a direct investment in community health and sustainable economic development.
