Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, Jouf University, represented by the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, organized the “Waed for Innovations” Exhibition, with the participation of a number of university students in the tracks of Health Sciences and Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Computer Science. The exhibition aimed to showcase a range of student innovations and graduation projects that employ scientific knowledge and research skills to provide practical solutions serving the Al Jouf region and the wider community, while keeping pace with development needs and quality-of-life priorities.
During his tour of the exhibition, His Excellency the University President reviewed the participating projects and innovations and listened to explanations from students about their scientific ideas, development mechanisms, areas of application, and the intended community impact. He emphasized the importance of supporting student talents and motivating students to transform their ideas into high-quality projects that are capable of further development and practical implementation.
The projects presented in the Health Sciences track reflected students’ awareness of the importance of innovation in improving the quality of healthcare services, enhancing prevention, supporting diagnosis, and developing technical and research-based solutions that can serve patients and healthcare practitioners, as well as support rehabilitation and healthcare programs, in alignment with the objectives of healthcare transformation and Saudi Vision 2030.
Meanwhile, the projects in the Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Computer Science track presented innovative models related to artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, energy, applied engineering, assistive technologies for persons with disabilities, and resource management. These projects demonstrated students’ ability to connect educational outcomes with community needs and to provide practical solutions that respond to the developmental, environmental, and technological priorities of the Al Jouf region.
The exhibition included the evaluation of participating graduation projects for the academic year 1447 AH, based on scientific criteria that included originality of the idea, applicability, community impact, relevance to regional needs, quality of presentation, scientific methodology, and potential for future development.
The evaluation results in the Health Sciences track awarded first place to the project “Assessment of Microbial Viability in Commercial Probiotic Products” from the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Sakaka, submitted by students Maha bint Salah Al-Saadoun, Sarah bint Abdullah Al-Ruwaili, and Shaden bint Zaidan Al-Ruwaili. The project was recognized for its applied dimension related to public health and the quality of biological products associated with community health.
Second place went to the project “Targeting Aurora Kinase A in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Using Marine-Derived Compounds: A Computer-Aided Drug Design Study” from the College of Pharmacy, submitted by student Raneem bint Abed Al-Rais, for its advanced research approach in drug discovery and its contribution to innovation in pharmaceutical sciences.
Third place was awarded to the project “An Artificial Intelligence-Based Facial Symmetry Analysis System for the Assessment and Rehabilitation of Individuals with Bell’s Palsy Using Biofeedback” from the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Qurayyat, submitted by students Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Ruwaili and Omar bin Azem Al-Ruwaili. The project reflects the use of artificial intelligence technologies to support health rehabilitation and improve quality of life.
The College of Dentistry project, “The Effectiveness of Case-Based Learning in Small Groups, Integrated with Training Using an Animal Model, in Enhancing Surgical Knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery among Dental Trainees: A Quasi-Experimental Study,” submitted by students Talal bin Fayez Al-Mutairi, Abdulrahman bin Atiyah Al-Zahrani, Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ruwaili, Mohammed bin Al-Humaidi Al-Sharaan, and Talal bin Alyan Al-Buhairan, received fourth place.
The College of Nursing project, “Nomophobia: Fear of Losing Mobile Phone Access,” submitted by students Abdullah bin Bandar Al-Anzi, Dhiab bin Hudairi Al-Juhani, Rayan bin Rabee Al-Jabbab, and Fahad bin Faisal Al-Shammari, received fifth place.
In the Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Computer Science track, first place was awarded to the project “MOUBSER: An Intelligent System for Navigation and Academic Accessibility for Persons with Visual Impairment” from the College of Computer and Information Sciences, submitted by students Rafeef bint Yousef Al-Zaid, Fayzah bint Beshaitan Al-Buniyah, Sheem bint Fawaz Al-Bulaihid, and Jouri bint Salman Al-Sarhani. The project was recognized as a qualitative technical solution that promotes inclusivity and accessibility within the educational environment.
Second place went to the project “Design and Manufacturing of an Innovative Air Conditioning System” from the College of Engineering, submitted by students Yazan bin Abdulrahman Al-Nusairi and Faris bin Majed Al-Sayyat, reflecting the use of engineering knowledge in developing practical and applicable solutions.
Third place was awarded to the project “Mitigation of Salt Stress in Tomato Plants Using Mannitol” from the College of Science, submitted by students I’tizaz bint Musaed Al-Daghmi, Ashwaq bint Bashir Al-Sharari, Milaf bint Majed Al-Khaldi, and Fadwa bint Khalid Al-Mazi, for its connection to the environment, agriculture, and sustainability—fields of developmental importance to the Al Jouf region.
The project “Waste Management and Recycling” from the Applied College, submitted by student Raneem bint Owaid Al-Fuhaiqi, received fourth place, supporting environmental awareness and promoting sustainability and social responsibility.

“The Waed for Innovations Exhibition embodies the university’s commitment to empowering its students to employ knowledge and scientific research in serving people and society, and to transforming creative ideas into practical solutions that contribute to the development of the Al Jouf region and support the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation. The projects we witnessed in health sciences, basic sciences, engineering, and computer science reflect scientific awareness and social responsibility, and confirm the ability of the university’s male and female students to create qualitative solutions that stem from community needs and anticipate future requirements.”
The exhibition affirmed that the participating innovations and graduation projects were not merely theoretical ideas, but rather models and initiatives that can be further developed and built upon. They reflect the ability of Jouf University students to transform academic knowledge into tangible impact in the fields of health, environment, technology, engineering, and quality of life.
The organization of the “Waed for Innovations” Exhibition comes as part of Jouf University’s efforts to support student innovation, empower young national talents, and strengthen the university’s role in serving the Al Jouf region and society through qualitative projects that respond to local needs and contribute to building a development-oriented future based on knowledge and innovation.
