His Excellency Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, President of Jouf University, received Dr. Ali bin Ayel Al-Amir, Dean of the College of Sharia and Law, and the College’s vice deans. During the meeting, they reviewed the College’s annual report for the 1447 AH academic year, which documented its performance indicators and academic, research, student, and community achievements, as well as its future targets and development plans.

His Excellency was briefed on the College’s academic environment, which serves 1,930 students, employs 118 faculty members, and offers three bachelor’s programs and one postgraduate program. The College also produced 133 graduates during the first semester. The report further highlighted that all three bachelor’s programs had secured program accreditation, reflecting the College’s commitment to enhancing program quality and strengthening its academic outcomes.

In research, the report documented 110 publications at the local level and six at the international level, along with 11 papers published in first-quartile (Q1) journals and 59 citations. It also highlighted efforts to direct research toward issues concerning the Al-Jouf region and its development needs.

The report showcased the College’s contribution to community engagement and volunteerism. It delivered 70 community activities, exceeding its annual target, and provided 259 volunteer opportunities totaling more than 2,500 hours contributed by faculty members, students, and staff. The College also strengthened its professional partnerships through four cooperation agreements with judicial and educational organizations, law firms, and legal consultancy companies.

His Excellency emphasized that the College of Sharia and Law plays a pivotal role in developing nationally qualified professionals who combine strong academic foundations with professional competence. He noted that the College contributes to promoting Sharia and legal awareness and reinforcing the values of justice, integrity, and the rule of law. Its mission, he added, extends beyond the classroom to serving the community and helping address its issues and needs

He stressed the importance of continuing to develop the College’s academic programs, strengthening their alignment with labor market needs and legislative and legal developments, and expanding field training and strategic partnerships with judicial and legal organizations. He also called for enhancing the quality of research output and directing it toward national priorities and issues of meaningful societal impact.

The meeting also reviewed the College’s targets for the 1448 AH academic year, encompassing 26 indicators and objectives. Key priorities include securing full national accreditation for all College programs, obtaining international accreditation for one program, increasing graduate employment rates and alignment between graduates’ jobs and qualifications, developing digital content, and expanding local and international agreements, training opportunities, and investment initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency commended the efforts of the Dean, vice deans, faculty members, staff, and students, as well as the achievements accomplished throughout the academic year. He reaffirmed the University’s support for initiatives that advance the College, enhance the competitiveness of its programs, and empower its graduates to contribute effectively to serving the nation and achieving its aspirations.
