Jouf University Council Holds Its Second Session of the Academic Year 1447H and Approves a Number of Recommendations Supporting Academic Excellence and Advancing the University’s Mission and Vision in Line with Saudi Vision 2030
On Sunday, September 28, 2025, the University Council held its second session of the academic year 1447H, chaired by His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, with the attendance of the university’s vice presidents, deans of colleges, and supporting deanships. The Council discussed several important topics related to scholarships and faculty members, and approved a number of recommendations that contribute to achieving the university’s strategic objectives and strengthening its alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.


During the session, the Council reviewed several key topics forming a cornerstone for the university’s development journey, most notably:
- Discussion on updating regulations for the duration and extension of scholarships: The Council addressed mechanisms to refine the regulations governing scholarship periods, ensuring a balance between allowing scholarship recipients to complete their academic programs and the importance of their timely return to serve the nation and contribute to advancing education and research.
- Discussion of several scholarship-related issues: Aimed at enhancing the efficiency of academic and research staff, thereby improving the quality and competitiveness of the university’s outputs locally and globally.
- Discussion of faculty-related issues: The Council made decisions that support improving the academic work environment, attracting distinguished talent, promoting research innovation, and providing incentives that enable faculty members to increase their scientific productivity and community service.
His Excellency the University President affirmed that the resolutions reflect the university’s commitment to its Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which prioritizes academic excellence, strengthening research and innovation, developing human capabilities, and serving the community. He explained that decisions regarding scholarships and faculty members are practical steps toward translating this plan into reality by preparing distinguished national human capital and fostering an academic environment that motivates creativity and knowledge production.
Prof. Al-Shaya also pointed out that the topics discussed and approved are in harmony with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly within the Human Capability Development pillar, which aims to prepare globally competitive generations, and the Knowledge Economy pillar, which focuses on supporting research and innovation as essential drivers of development. Moreover, supporting faculty affairs and attracting talent align with national efforts to build a modern university education system that meets future requirements.


At the conclusion of the session, His Excellency emphasized that the University Council represents the supreme body shaping the academic and research development of the institution. He noted that its resolutions will serve as a launchpad for strengthening the university’s standing in global rankings, expanding its local and international partnerships, and enhancing its role in community service, thereby fulfilling its national mission and vision to be a pioneering and impactful university in developing people and enriching society.
