As part of Jouf University's commitment to consolidating institutional excellence, strengthening its academic and research competitiveness at the national and international levels, and advancing its quality assurance and accreditation framework from achieving targets to sustaining excellence and measuring impact, the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya’, chaired a meeting of the Higher Supervisory Committee for Accreditation and Institutional Excellence.
The meeting addressed several strategic priorities aimed at advancing the University's academic accreditation framework, strengthening its standing in national and international rankings, and integrating competitiveness indicators into the institutional performance management system, in alignment with the University's future aspirations and strategic directions, as well as the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The meeting builds on the University's ongoing efforts to establish an integrated institutional framework for quality and excellence and capitalize on its academic achievements, most notably securing programmatic accreditation for 100% of its active bachelor's degree programs. This milestone supports the University's transition toward a new phase focused on strategically expanding national and international accreditations, improving operational efficiency, strengthening institutional sustainability, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across all University sectors.
The meeting discussed the strategic direction for national and international programmatic accreditation, reviewing future pathways for enhancing the quality of academic programs and strengthening their readiness to meet national and international accreditation standards. These efforts aim to align learning outcomes with labor market requirements and evolving knowledge and professional trends, improve the quality of the educational experience, enhance the competitiveness of University graduates, and expand opportunities for international academic recognition of its programs.
The meeting also addressed strategic directions for national and international university rankings, as part of the University's efforts to strengthen its position across academic and research competitiveness indicators, leverage its institutional strengths and competitive advantages, and develop targeted initiatives that support its advancement in university rankings. Particular emphasis was placed on teaching quality, scientific research, innovation, research citations, international partnerships, sustainability, and societal impact. These priorities reflect tangible progress in academic and institutional performance and reinforce the University's standing within the national and international higher education and research landscape.
In a key area reflecting the University's commitment to performance governance and more effective institutional decision-making, the Committee explored ways to strengthen the integration of performance indicators associated with national and international rankings into the University's institutional performance management system.
This approach seeks to align institutional efforts, enhance the efficiency of monitoring and performance measurement, improve data quality and reporting, and link strategic initiatives and objectives to clear, measurable key performance indicators. Ultimately, it aims to establish an integrated framework that supports data-driven decision-making and ensures alignment between the University's actual performance and the requirements of competitiveness and institutional excellence.
This strategic direction underscores the University's commitment to ensuring that academic accreditations and international rankings are not treated as ends in themselves, but rather as strategic instruments for improving the quality of education and scientific research, enhancing institutional performance efficiency, and maximizing developmental and societal impact. Such an approach ensures that these achievements translate into improved educational outcomes, more efficient operations, higher service standards, and sustainable institutional improvement.
The University President emphasized the importance of integrating efforts across academic, administrative, and research sectors and reinforcing shared institutional responsibility for achieving quality, accreditation, and excellence objectives. He highlighted the need to focus on sustainable improvements in performance quality, make effective use of measurement and evaluation indicators to identify opportunities for enhancement, and leverage the University's institutional capabilities and resources to strengthen its competitive position and its ability to respond to the rapid transformations shaping higher education.
The meeting of the Higher Supervisory Committee for Accreditation and Institutional Excellence reflects Jouf University's strategic shift from achieving milestones to sustaining their impact, and from meeting quality standards to driving excellence and competitiveness.
This direction forms part of the University's continuous institutional development journey, which seeks to strengthen its academic, research, and societal leadership, reinforce its contributions to human capital development, knowledge creation, and innovation, and support national priorities and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
