Jouf University Launches the First Phase of the Self-Customized Degree Initiative

Self-Customized Degree Initiative

As part of Jouf University’s efforts to establish a modern educational ecosystem based on flexibility and integration—and aligned with the rapid transformations of the labor market—the University has announced the launch of the first phase of the Self-Customized Degree Initiative. This pioneering academic initiative reflects the University’s strategic direction toward enhancing the university experience and empowering students to build broader and deeper educational pathways. The initiative aims to enable students to design educational tracks that align with their academic and professional interests, while enhancing their ability to integrate their major disciplines with the needs of various sectors. This contributes to raising graduates’ competitiveness and professional readiness. Within this initiative, minor programs represent one of the advanced educational models adopted by the University. These programs are additional academic tracks that students study alongside their main majors, allowing them to acquire multidisciplinary knowledge and skills and expand their scientific and professional horizons—without compromising the graduation requirements of their primary fields. All of this is offered within a structured and flexible academic framework governed by quality standards and academic accreditation requirements. Through this initiative, the University seeks to enhance the outcomes of university education, strengthen interdisciplinary integration, and align academic programs with current and future labor market needs—thereby preparing qualified national talents equipped with diverse skills and a high capacity to adapt to professional changes. The first phase of the initiative includes the launch of minor specializations in fields with growing demand, namely: Business Administration, Accounting, Finance and Investment, Applied Computing and Informatics, and Electrical Engineering. These options provide students with broader opportunities to combine theoretical knowledge with practical application across multiple disciplines.

In this context, the University has invited students interested in benefiting from the initiative to attend an introductory workshop to be held tomorrow. The workshop will present details of the offered programs, enrollment mechanisms, and registration requirements, in addition to addressing students’ inquiries and clarifying the expected academic and professional impact of enrolling in the minor programs.

In conclusion, the Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, for his continuous support and ongoing commitment to developing academic pathways and empowering high-quality educational initiatives that enhance the quality of university education, expand flexible learning options, and build a comprehensive academic experience that meets students’ aspirations and aligns with national development goals.
