His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Professor Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received at the university headquarters HRH Prince Badr bin Fahd Al Faisal Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Amateur Radio Society, in the presence of the University Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges, and supporting deanships. The official visit reflected the depth of national partnerships and the integration of roles between educational institutions and specialized entities in the fields of technology and communications.
At the outset of the meeting, the University President warmly welcomed His Royal Highness, expressing his sincere appreciation for the visit. He emphasized that such engagements demonstrate qualitative support for technological and knowledge-based initiatives and reinforce the University’s presence in innovation and advanced technologies, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in digital transformation and national talent empowerment.
The meeting included a comprehensive visual presentation highlighting the University’s journey since its establishment and the qualitative advancements achieved at academic, research, and community levels. The presentation introduced the University’s colleges and campuses across Al-Jouf Region, its diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and the national and international academic accreditations obtained by various programs, reflecting the University’s commitment to quality standards and institutional excellence.
The presentation also addressed the University’s key achievements in scientific research, including publication rates in internationally indexed peer-reviewed databases, the growth in citation impact, and its advancement in global rankings. It further highlighted the expansion of international agreements and research partnerships with reputable universities and research centers worldwide, reinforcing its international presence and its role as a knowledge and development driver in the region.
Discussions also explored future areas of cooperation between the University and the Saudi Amateur Radio Society, including the development of specialized training programs and workshops for students in wireless communications, emergency communication technologies, and community connectivity, as well as supporting student initiatives and activating joint activities that contribute to enhancing technical skills and fostering a culture of innovation.
During the visit, His Royal Highness toured the accompanying exhibition, which featured research and innovation platforms at Jouf University. The exhibition reflected the University’s advanced standing in supporting the research and innovation ecosystem, showcasing a number of specialized sections presenting prominent research outputs and applied innovations with scientific and societal impact, as follows:
First: Energy Research and Innovation Section
This section presented a distinguished collection of research projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, along with patents and student innovations, reflecting the University’s commitment to leveraging scientific research in support of sustainability and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Second: Environmental Research and Innovation Section
This section showcased leading scientific studies and applied innovations related to environmental sustainability, natural resource management, and environmental protection. It also featured outstanding student innovations addressing contemporary environmental challenges through creative and technological approaches.
Third: Health Research and Innovation Section
The health section highlighted key scientific research and innovations in medical and health fields, alongside distinguished student innovations aimed at improving quality of life and developing innovative healthcare solutions. It underscored the integration of scientific research with applied education and the University’s role in promoting multidisciplinary health innovation.
Fourth: Technological Innovations in Communications
Dedicated to advanced technological innovations in communications, this section displayed modern models and technologies in antenna design, in addition to notable patents in communications and technology fields, reflecting the University’s excellence in engineering and technological research and its alignment with rapid sector developments.
Fifth: Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Chair for Sustainable Development Pavilion
The exhibition also included a dedicated pavilion highlighting the research outputs and initiatives of the Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Chair for Sustainable Development. The pavilion received significant attention from the delegation, as HRH Prince Badr bin Fahd Al Faisal Al Saud toured it alongside the University President and Vice Presidents, reviewing the Chair’s scientific contributions and its role in supporting applied research and sustainable development issues.
At the conclusion of the visit, HRH Prince Badr bin Fahd Al Faisal Al Saud praised the advanced level of research and innovation he observed, commending Jouf University’s efforts in promoting a culture of innovation, supporting researchers and students, and transforming research ideas into practical applications with sustainable scientific and societal impact.
