His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Majed Al-Zara, along with the College’s vice deans and heads of academic departments. During the meeting, the College’s annual report for the academic year 1447 AH was reviewed, highlighting key performance indicators and notable achievements in education, scientific research, innovation, quality and academic accreditation, and community service, as well as the College’s future targets and development plans.

His Excellency reviewed the progress achieved by the College in international rankings. Engineering was ranked in the 251–300 band globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, placing seventh nationally. Meanwhile, Engineering and Energy Science was ranked in the 301–400 band globally in the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025, placing ninth nationally. These results reflect the University’s growing academic and research presence in engineering and energy-related disciplines.

The report showed that the College comprises four academic departments and offers four bachelor’s programs, in addition to two master’s programs in Renewable Energy and Executive Engineering Management, as well as a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology offered in cooperation with the Applied College. During the year, the College also introduced a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering within the Department of Civil Engineering, in response to labor market needs and in support of sustainable urban development requirements.

In the area of quality and academic accreditation, the bachelor’s programs in Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical Engineering maintained full national and international accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA) and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), reaffirming the quality of the programs and their alignment with national and international academic and professional standards.

The College also recorded strong research performance, publishing 247 scientific papers indexed in Web of Science, with 70% appearing in Q1 journals, while the total number of scientific citations reached 6,420. In addition, 11 faculty members were included in Stanford University’s 2025 list of the world’s top 2% most influential scientists, reflecting the quality and growing impact of the College’s research output.

In innovation and student excellence, the College received six international awards and five national awards in research and innovation. These achievements included a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, three gold medals and two silver medals at iCAN 2025, as well as first and second places in the Student Innovation Track of the Clean Energy Innovation Award at the Renewable Energy Forum 2026. Students also achieved several advanced placements in the University Student Forum and the Wa’ed Innovation Exhibition.

The report further highlighted the College’s efforts to enhance students’ and graduates’ readiness for the labor market through practical training and field visits to the Sakaka Solar Power Plant and the Dumat Al-Jandal Wind Farm, in addition to professional workshops under the Tamkeen Initiative and the development of applied graduation projects in renewable energy, smart systems, and sustainability. The College also strengthened its engagement with academic and professional sectors through six local and international agreements and memoranda of understanding with universities, research institutions, and specialized professional organizations.

In the area of social responsibility, the College provided 192 volunteer opportunities, generating 1,236 volunteer participations involving 350 volunteers, with a total of 8,955 volunteer hours. The College ranked third among Jouf University entities with the highest number of volunteer opportunities. It also provided five scientific consultations, delivered seven knowledge-based lectures, and participated in 15 community events, alongside several initiatives addressing electric vehicles, low-cost buildings, engineering project management, and professional development for engineers.

His Excellency the University President emphasized that the College of Engineering represents a key pillar in preparing qualified national talent and developing technical and engineering solutions that serve the industrial, energy, and infrastructure sectors. He noted that the College’s strong performance in rankings, research, and innovation reflects the quality of its academic system and its ability to transform knowledge into practical applications that contribute to achieving national development objectives and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency commended the efforts of the Dean, vice deans, heads of departments, academic and administrative staff, and students. He reaffirmed the University’s support for the continued development of academic programs, the enhancement of academic accreditations, the expansion of partnerships with industrial and professional sectors, and the empowerment of research and innovation to deliver engineering solutions with sustainable economic and societal impact.
