President of Jouf University Reviews Summer Work Plan and Emphasizes the Importance of Transforming Programs and Initiatives into Developmental Impact in the Region
His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, held a meeting with the University vice presidents to review the summer work plan and assess the readiness of the University’s sectors to implement a package of programs, initiatives, activities, and specialized sessions that the University plans to launch during the summer period. This comes as part of the University’s direction to invest this period in strengthening its institutional and community impact, improving performance efficiency, and continuing efforts to achieve the objectives of its strategic plan.
The meeting reviewed the key executive tracks of the summer work plan and the quality programs it includes, targeting students, University staff, and the local community through training, developmental, and community initiatives that contribute to skill development, capacity building, and expanding opportunities for active participation in volunteer and developmental work. These efforts reflect the University’s role in serving the community and strengthen its presence as an educational and knowledge institution with direct impact in its local environment.
His Excellency the University President affirmed that the summer work plan represents an important track for maintaining effective institutional work. He noted that the summer period is not limited to completing operational requirements and preparing for the upcoming academic year; rather, it represents a valuable opportunity to launch programs and initiatives with added value, contribute to developing the university environment, enhance integration among University sectors, and transform academic, research, and administrative capabilities into practical outputs that serve the community and align with development priorities in the Jouf region.
The meeting also discussed the features of the summer program, through which the University seeks to offer a diverse package of programs, initiatives, activities, and specialized sessions, foremost among them the professional volunteering tracks. These tracks are among the quality fields that enhance social responsibility and shift volunteer work from general practice to organized institutional practice based on planning, qualification, impact measurement, and linking volunteer efforts to the needs and priorities of the community.
His Excellency stressed the importance of ensuring that the summer program contributes to empowering students and University staff with practical skills in designing, managing, and implementing volunteer initiatives. This will help promote a culture of initiative, belonging, and giving, raise the quality of the University’s community impact, and support its direction toward building an institutional model for professional volunteering that invests young talents and academic expertise in serving people and place.
His Excellency also affirmed that Jouf University is working to utilize its programs, capabilities, and expertise in quality initiatives that strengthen the University’s impact in its local environment and align with the development objectives of the Jouf region. This is achieved by linking summer programs to community needs, directing efforts toward areas that benefit students and beneficiaries, and supporting integration between the University and various sectors in the region.
The meeting highlighted the importance of coordination and integration among the relevant vice presidencies, deanships, colleges, and departments to ensure the efficient implementation of the summer work plan and the achievement of clear, measurable outputs. This includes defining roles, monitoring performance indicators, documenting results, and strengthening governance in the implementation of initiatives and programs to ensure sustainability of impact and improve the quality of outcomes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the University President affirmed that Jouf University is moving forward in strengthening its academic, research, and community roles and developing its quality initiatives in line with the objectives of its vision and strategic plan, while supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. He emphasized that summer work at the University represents an extension of its institutional development journey and an opportunity to maximize the University’s impact in serving and developing the region.
