Ph.D.
Cairo University - Egypt & Leeds University -ُEngland - UK - Faculty of Science- Cairo University & Colour Chemistry Department - Leeds University
2001 - 1994

Preparation of starch and polyacrylic composite by preparing carboxymethyl starch and then grafting it with acrylic acid. The grafting process was carried out using two systems:
Grafting using the system: oxidation: reduction (Thiourea dioxide / Potassium bromate)
Grafting using the system: ultraviolet rays and photo-initiator
First, carboxymethyl starch was prepared using three types of starch according to the degree of decomposition of the starch molecule and also with different degrees of substitution.

M.A.
Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt - Faculty of Science
1992 - 1988

Wood pulp (cellulose source) was treated with urea to increase the reactivity of cellulose to chemical reactions. The treatment was carried out using different concentrations of urea to produce cellulose carbamate with different nitrogen content and the nitrogen content of the products from each concentration was measured. Cellulose acetate and carboxymethyl cellulose were prepared for both cellulose and cellulose carbamate with different degrees of substitution and the most important factors affecting the reaction were studied.

Projects

Synthesis of the new “carboxymethyl chitosan-silver nanoparticles- ginger nanocomposite”, characterization and medical applications
2021 - 2024

Ginger is a well-known medicinal herb and is used as food and hot drinks additive for its flavor, healing and protection against number of diseases. Silver nanoparticles are among the most important nanoparticles, they are mainly used in medical applications, due to their antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral efficacy. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles Chitosan is an environmentally friendly natural polymer which also has antibacterial and antimicrobial characteristics and is used in various medical applications.
