College of Applied Medical Sciences Organizes Awareness Lectures on the Role of Volunteer Platforms in Building a Vibrant Society
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote a culture of volunteerism and reinforce the values of social responsibility, the College of Applied Medical Sciences organized a series of specialized awareness lectures on the role of volunteer platforms in supporting community sustainability and building a vibrant society. The lectures were held on Sunday and Tuesday, February 8–10, 2026, with the participation of faculty members and specialists, and were attended by students, staff, and individuals interested in volunteer work.
First Lecture
First Lecture (Sunday, February 8, 2026)
Title: “Towards a Vibrant Society: Volunteer Platforms as a Pillar of Sustainable Giving”
The first lecture was jointly delivered by Ms. Zeina Al-Ruwaili, Director of Community Service and Volunteer Work at the University, and Ms. Maha Al-Eissa, Director of the Female Section Administration at the College.
The lecture addressed the concept of volunteer work as one of the fundamental pillars in building a cohesive society based on participation and giving. It highlighted the role of volunteer initiatives in enhancing the quality of life and fostering a spirit of social responsibility among individuals.
The speakers also emphasized the transition from traditional volunteerism to organized and institutional volunteer work through digital platforms, which have significantly improved the organization, efficiency, and reliability of volunteer opportunities. These platforms also facilitate the documentation of volunteer hours and enable broad community participation with transparency and ease.

The second lecture was delivered by Dr. Eid Al-Shammari from the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
The session highlighted the role of health volunteer platforms in supporting the healthcare system and enhancing the efficiency of preventive and awareness services. Dr. Al-Shammari explained the importance of health volunteering in promoting community awareness, disease prevention, and supporting health campaigns and educational initiatives.
The lecture also included an overview of the National Volunteer Platform and its registration mechanisms, as well as how it can be utilized to:
• Join accredited volunteer opportunities
• Document volunteer hours
• Build a volunteer portfolio for students and professionals
• Develop professional and personal skills
Dr. Al-Shammari emphasized that health volunteering extends beyond service provision to include disseminating health knowledge and promoting preventive behaviors, thereby positively impacting both society and the healthcare sector.
