Jouf University President Launches “A Nation We Care For” Initiatives Program, Turning National Day Celebrations into Sustainable Community Impact 5,000 beneficiaries, 300 volunteers and specialists, and 25 specialized services
The President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, launched the “A Nation We Care For” Initiatives Program, introduced by the University in conjunction with its celebration of Saudi National Day. The program represents a distinctive community initiative that transforms expressions of national pride and belonging into meaningful community action, puts knowledge to work in the service of people, and promotes practices that support environmental and community sustainability.
The program embodies the values of belonging, giving, and social responsibility by mobilizing the expertise of the University’s colleges, faculty, staff, and students to serve the community through a comprehensive week of healthcare services, specialized consultations, and community awareness programs. These efforts aim to enhance quality of life, protect the environment, and support and empower diverse segments of society.
The “A Nation We Care For” program is built around three main pillars that capture its philosophy and mission: Health for People, Sustainability for Place, and Knowledge that Creates Impact. Through these pillars, Jouf University presents a model for celebrating national occasions by translating academic knowledge and expertise into services and initiatives that create a direct and tangible impact on people’s lives.
The program aims to reach 5,000 beneficiaries, with the participation of 300 volunteers and specialists, while providing 25 specialized services and consultations across seven community fields over seven days. This reflects the strong integration among the University’s colleges and disciplines and highlights the role of both volunteerism and professional expertise in serving the community.
The program’s services are organized into seven tracks: “Health of the Nation” for health screenings and medical services; “Smile of the Nation” for oral and dental health; “Environment of the Nation” for environmental protection, afforestation, and sustainability; “Quality of Life” for physical therapy and elderly care; “An Inclusive Community” to support and empower persons with disabilities; “Economy of the Nation” for business and entrepreneurial projects; and “Building for the Nation” for engineering and architectural consultations.
In the healthcare field, the initiative provides general medical screenings, vital-sign assessments, blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, health consultations, awareness services, and disease-prevention guidance. These services are expected to benefit approximately 1,500 people. The oral and dental health track is expected to serve 900 beneficiaries through initial examinations, screening for tooth decay and gum conditions, and preventive health guidance.
The program also includes an environmental sustainability and afforestation initiative titled “Our Jouf is Green”, which provides consultations on plants suitable for the region’s environment, sustainable agricultural practices, water conservation, and recycling. In addition, the “A Safe Step” track offers physical therapy and mobility assessments and consultations, along with awareness programs for older adults focusing on fall prevention, back and neck pain, and improving overall quality of life.
In the area of community empowerment, the “Together We Can” initiative provides educational and psychological consultations for persons with disabilities and their families, raises awareness of inclusion and support practices, and helps identify talents and abilities. Meanwhile, the “Your Idea, Your Project” track offers consultations on establishing and developing businesses, feasibility studies, business models, marketing, and financial management, supporting entrepreneurs, students, graduates, and small-business owners.
The program is further complemented by the “Building with Awareness” track, which provides engineering and architectural consultations for homeowners and project owners. It focuses on developing preliminary plans and designs, improving energy efficiency, optimizing the use of space, enhancing safety and maintenance, and promoting sustainable engineering solutions.
The program is supported by an integrated volunteer system comprising 300 volunteers and specialists across three main areas: general volunteering, health volunteering, and professional volunteering. This structure strengthens the participation of Jouf University students, staff, and specialists in serving the community and reinforces a culture of volunteerism as a meaningful expression of giving and national belonging.
The “A Nation We Care For” program is aligned with the pillars of Saudi Vision 2030 by supporting the objectives of a Vibrant Society, a Thriving Economy, and an Ambitious Nation. It also promotes volunteerism and social responsibility, supports entrepreneurship, quality of life, sustainability, preventive healthcare, and the empowerment of all segments of society.
The program reflects Jouf University’s commitment to transforming national celebrations into platforms for action, giving, and sustainable impact, where national belonging becomes a practice demonstrated through community service, the application of knowledge and expertise for the benefit of people, contributions to regional development, and the preservation of the nation’s achievements—an approach encapsulated in the initiative’s message: “A Nation We Care For.”
