As part of its awareness and community engagement programs, Jouf University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized a training workshop titled "How to Protect Yourself from Drowning" in conjunction with World Drowning Prevention Day, observed annually on July 25. This initiative comes within the university’s ongoing efforts to raise community awareness and promote a culture of safety and prevention, aiming to preserve lives and reduce risks.

The workshop witnessed significant attendance from university students and various segments of the community. It covered several key topics, including:
- The most common causes of drowning
- Preventive measures during water activities
- Proper response during emergencies
- First aid for drowning cases
- How to seek help and handle drowning incidents until specialized responders arrive
The workshop featured interactive practical demonstrations and realistic simulation scenes presented by a specialized team in safety and first aid.
His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, emphasized the university’s strong commitment to safety and awareness programs. He noted that the prevention of incidents, including drowning, is a shared community responsibility that requires collective efforts. The workshop reflects the university's societal responsibility and its dedication to building a safe and healthy knowledge environment. It also aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in enhancing quality of life and promoting a culture of prevention.

Prof. Al-Shaya further stressed that increasing public awareness of survival skills and emergency response enhances individual and community safety. “At Jouf University, we are keen for our students to serve as conscious and impactful role models in their communities,” he said.
He added that the university will continue to organize such high-impact initiatives that contribute to community security, particularly within the framework of social development, sustainability, and life skills enhancement.
At the conclusion of the workshop, educational brochures and awareness leaflets were distributed, and the participating trainers and supervisors were honored. A number of students expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting the value they gained from both the scientific content and practical exercises, which will help them handle aquatic environments more safely in the future.
