Jouf University Council Holds its Fourth Session and Approves New Decisions to Support Academic Development, Language Training, and Strengthen Scientific Publishing
Jouf University held its fourth Council session for the academic year 1447 AH, chaired by His Excellency the University President Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, with the presence of vice presidents, deans. The Council reviewed several academic and administrative items aimed at supporting institutional development and enhancing the university’s competitiveness in education and scientific research, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
The session began with the Council commending the university’s recent achievements in winning national awards in the field of volunteer work, as well as earning advanced standings in the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings (THE). The Council affirmed that such accomplishments reflect the university’s impact in community engagement, its academic and research strength, and its ability to compete regionally and globally.
As part of the university’s efforts to enhance linguistic competencies and improve educational outcomes, the Council approved the implementation of English-language training courses within the university, targeting students, faculty members, and administrative staff. The program aims to strengthen language proficiency, broaden learning opportunities, and support academic excellence.
The Council also approved the criteria for accepting journals indexed in the Web of Science (WOS) database, in order to improve the quality of scientific publishing, enable researchers to publish in high-impact accredited journals, and further elevate the university’s research ranking locally and internationally. During the session, a number of academic and administrative topics were reviewed relating to the enhancement of the educational environment and the improvement of operational efficiency. Appropriate recommendations were issued to ensure continued institutional progress and support high-impact initiatives across various sectors.
His Excellency the University President emphasized that the Council is committed to supporting decisions that align with the university’s developmental direction and further strengthen its educational and research mission. He noted that the English-language training initiative and the adoption of WOS criteria reflect the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, research quality, and empowering its community with modern knowledge tools.
At the conclusion of the session, His Excellency expressed his appreciation to the Council members for their efforts and collaboration, underscoring that the university remains firmly committed to development, and to launching impactful initiatives that serve students, enhance academic programs, and reinforce the university’s scientific and intellectual presence.
