Under the Patronage of HRH Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Jouf University and the Saudi Amateur Radio Society Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Under the gracious patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Al Jouf Region, Jouf University and the Saudi Amateur Radio Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming the University’s strategic commitment to building impactful and sustainable partnerships that empower students, advance applied scientific research, and foster innovation in advanced technologies. The patronage of HRH the Governor reflects the continued support of the Kingdom’s leadership for education, research, and technological advancement, as well as its commitment to enabling high-quality initiatives that strengthen Al Jouf Region’s presence in the fields of technology and innovation. This aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in digital transformation, technology localization, and the development of a competitive knowledge-based economy.

Jouf University was represented in signing the MoU by His Excellency Professor Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, President of the University, while the Saudi Amateur Radio Society was represented by His Royal Highness Prince Badr bin Fahd Al Faisal Al Saud, Chairman of the Society.

The MoU reflects the University’s dedication to expanding qualitative partnerships and strengthening its role in advanced scientific domains—particularly space sciences, communications, and wireless technologies—in line with its strategic plan to support applied research and develop national capabilities in priority technology sectors.

The agreement aims to establish and operate a Ground Satellite Station and a Radio Telescope at Jouf University, creating an advanced scientific platform that will serve several strategic tracks, including:

  • Conducting advanced radio astronomy research in accordance with internationally recognized standards, enhancing the University’s high-impact research output.
  • Utilizing the station for monitoring, early warning applications, and radio spectrum observation, contributing to national security support systems.
  • Developing and manufacturing advanced antenna technologies to strengthen local content and reduce operational costs.
  • Providing students and researchers with high-quality, hands-on training opportunities in space sciences, engineering, and communications technologies.

His Excellency the President of Jouf University emphasized that this MoU represents a significant step in reinforcing the University’s national role in supporting future-oriented sectors and consolidating its position as a knowledge and development driver in Al Jouf Region. He affirmed that the initiative embodies Jouf University’s vision of linking education, research, and innovation to tangible developmental impact, in alignment with the ambitions of Vision 2030.
