From Awareness to Action: Jouf University President Inaugurates Interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Exhibition to Foster a Culture of Digital Security and Strengthen Institutional Protection
In a step reflecting Jouf University's commitment to strengthening cybersecurity, fostering a culture of digital awareness, and building a secure and sustainable academic environment, the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya’, inaugurated the Interactive Cybersecurity Awareness Exhibition, coinciding with Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October 2026. The exhibition forms part of the University's ongoing efforts to promote safe digital practices, raise awareness of cyber threats, and reinforce shared responsibility for protecting information and digital assets.
The inauguration reflects the University's continued commitment to developing its cybersecurity framework, enhancing its readiness to address digital threats, and promoting a culture of prevention and informed response to cyber risks. These efforts align with the rapid pace of digital transformation, support the sustainability of the University's educational, research, and administrative operations, and demonstrate its commitment to implementing the Essential Cybersecurity Controls issued by the National Cybersecurity Authority.
In his remarks during the exhibition's inauguration, the University President emphasized that cybersecurity is a fundamental pillar in establishing a secure and reliable educational and institutional ecosystem. He highlighted the generous support and attention extended by the wise leadership—may Allah protect them—to the education sector and digital transformation, which have contributed to strengthening the readiness of national institutions to keep pace with technological advancements and uphold standards of digital security and reliability.
He further explained that Jouf University places strategic importance on cybersecurity, extending beyond technical measures to fostering an informed institutional culture in which every individual plays an active role in protecting information and safeguarding digital achievements. He stressed that investing in cybersecurity awareness is an investment in institutional security and operational sustainability, noting that such interactive initiatives help translate knowledge into responsible behavior and safe everyday practices.
The two-day exhibition, targeting faculty members, administrative staff, and students, offers an innovative awareness experience that goes beyond traditional educational approaches. It transforms cybersecurity concepts into interactive scenarios simulating real-world threats encountered in academic environments and everyday life. This approach enables visitors to test their digital decision-making skills, immediately observe the consequences of their choices, and acquire practical knowledge that promotes safer digital behavior.
The exhibition features four specialized interactive stations. The "Detect the Threat" station raises awareness of phishing techniques and fraudulent messages, while the "Fake Store" station helps visitors identify fraudulent online stores and misleading advertisements. The "Who Do You Grant Access To?" station highlights the risks associated with sharing personal information, granting permissions, and disclosing verification codes. Meanwhile, the "Best Practices" station focuses on account protection, strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, security updates, and cybersecurity incident reporting procedures.
The exhibition demonstrates Jouf University's commitment to moving cybersecurity awareness beyond theoretical knowledge toward practical application, while emphasizing the individual's role as the first line of defense in protecting the digital environment. This reflects the University's institutional responsibility to foster awareness, improve security practices, and establish a sustainable cybersecurity culture among all members of its community.
Through this initiative, Jouf University reaffirms its commitment to embedding cybersecurity as an integral part of its institutional culture, a conscious everyday practice, and a shared responsibility. These efforts contribute to strengthening digital trust, safeguarding the achievements of digital transformation, and supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a secure and digitally empowered society.
