HE President of Jouf University Launches AI Course

His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, officially launched the “Artificial Intelligence” course in the presence of the University Vice President, the Vice President for Educational Affairs, the Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences, and the Vice Dean of the College. The course has been incorporated as a core subject in the academic plans of 25 programs across 10 colleges, benefiting over 4,000 male and female students.

This initiative is part of the university’s strategic efforts to enhance digital transformation, align educational outcomes with labor market needs, and achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The newly introduced course reflects the university’s vision of fostering a culture of innovation and artificial intelligence within the academic environment, while equipping students with future-oriented skills that will enhance their employability and open new academic and research horizons.
Spanning 30 instructional hours, the course includes interactive lectures, dynamic discussions, and real-world case studies, with key objectives including:

  • Contributing to the realization of Vision 2030
  • Developing future skills
  • Enhancing critical thinking and responsible engagement
  • Promoting innovation and problem-solving
  • Preparing students for future careers and research opportunities

During the launch ceremony, Prof. Al-Shaya emphasized the university’s firm commitment to achieving academic excellence and integrating future technologies into all academic programs.

He stated that the course responds to the demands of the coming era, which calls for graduates capable of effectively utilizing AI tools and contributing to a knowledge-based and innovative national economy. "At Jouf University, we believe that quality education is the cornerstone of leadership. We continue to develop a learning environment aligned with global digital transformations, national directions, and future professional needs," he added.

Prof. Al-Shaya further highlighted that this course reflects the university’s institutional transformation strategy and commitment to quality excellence, through the adoption of modern courses that foster digital skills, encourage innovative thinking, and promote leadership across various disciplines — aligning with the Human Capability Development Program and Saudi Vision 2030.

For his part, Dr. Alaa bin Saleh Al-Arjan, Vice President for Educational Affairs, noted that the wide-scale integration of the Artificial Intelligence course represents a qualitative shift in the educational process. It aims to enhance students’ technological awareness across all disciplines, improving their ability to analyze data, think logically, and generate innovative solutions.

The Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences stated that the course design combines theoretical foundations with real-life practical applications through case studies and interactive discussions. This approach offers students a deep understanding of AI’s impact on various life aspects and professional fields.

It is worth noting that this course is one of several educational initiatives implemented by Jouf University as part of its ambitious plan to enhance higher education quality and build a knowledge system aligned with the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The course also aims to raise graduates’ readiness to enter and compete effectively in the job market.
