Under the Patronage and in the Presence of His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, Jouf University Celebrates Founding Day in a National Epic Reflecting Deep-Rooted Heritage and the Journey Toward the Future
In a solemn national scene, Jouf University celebrated Founding Day through a distinguished event organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs, embodying a profound sense of belonging, recalling the beginnings of the First Saudi State, and highlighting how history has transformed into identity—how the Founding became the launching point for a nation that leads with confidence and ambition.
The ceremony was preceded by an accompanying exhibition titled “A Journey Through Time… From Roots to Vision,” with participation from:
• The Deanship of Student Affairs
• The College of Nursing
• The College of Applied Medical Sciences
• The College of Pharmacy
• The College of Business
• The College of Engineering
• The College of Education
• The College of Science
The participating colleges presented interactive and knowledge-based showcases portraying pivotal milestones in the history of the Saudi state since its founding by Imam Muhammad bin Saud—may Allah have mercy upon him—in 1139 AH (1727 AD), when the foundations of the state were established upon faith, justice, and stability. The exhibition further highlighted the era of unification led by the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud—may Allah have mercy upon him—followed by the succession of kings in a continued journey of pride and empowerment.
The exhibition was not merely a historical display, but a thoughtful reflection on the impact of the Founding on the present. It linked the state’s deep roots with its scientific renaissance, affirming that national identity is not simply a memory to recount, but a responsibility to uphold, and that universities are essential partners in translating the legacy of the Founding into scientific and developmental achievements.
In an emotionally resonant national epic, the ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, recalling the state’s foundations rooted in monotheism and enduring Islamic values. This was followed by a documentary film reviewing the journey of the Saudi state across the ages, leading to the prosperous era under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud—may Allah preserve them—where the ambitious vision for a more prosperous and competitive future is clearly embodied.
An operetta was then performed, evoking the moment of the Founding and the establishment of the state upon guidance and justice:
A nation founded in time upon true guidance,
Its unity exalted by… pure monotheism.
Security prevailed and the founder’s justice spread,
Even across deserts and barren lands.
O banner that gathered our scattered fragments,
Through it, Abdulaziz stood resolute.
The testimony of faith—its symbol and its creed,
A message wise for all Muslims.
And rulers succeeded in dignity and pride,
Lions in battle, falcons in might.
This poetic tableau re-articulated history in a language of pride, affirming that monotheism has always been—and remains—the spirit of the state and the emblem of its banner.
The operetta then transitioned to the bright present, portraying a nation steadily advancing toward glory:
Today our homeland strides toward eternal glory,
Beyond imagination, ever forward it moves.
Under Salman, a leader of compassion,
And a Crown Prince illuminating the path.
With a Vision that ignited the ambition of strong hands,
A generation for whom hardship becomes ease.
Universities advance through their sciences,
For knowledge shapes the destiny of minds.
At Jouf University, our thought ascends,
With the light of knowledge, toward excellence we rise.
In his address, His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, affirmed that Founding Day is not merely a historical anniversary, but a renewed moment of awareness of a national identity shaped by faith, justice, and stability since Imam Muhammad bin Saud laid the foundations of the state, continuing through the prosperous era under King Salman and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince—may Allah preserve them—where the journey of empowerment is renewed under Saudi Vision 2030.
He emphasized that Jouf University believes its educational and research mission is inseparable from the nation’s journey, but rather a natural extension of a history of construction and giving, and an active contributor to shaping its future. The University continues steadfastly to enhance the quality of its academic outputs and empower its students to serve as effective contributors to national development.
Concluding his speech, he extended his highest congratulations to the wise leadership and to the Saudi people, praying for the continued security, stability, and prosperity of the Kingdom.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of the participating colleges, recognition of the colleges that won the award for best exhibition presentation, as well as the recognition of male and female students who won Founding Day competitions. The Deanship of Student Affairs was also honored in appreciation of its distinguished organizational efforts that reflected the University’s identity and national spirit.
Through this celebration, Jouf University affirmed that Founding Day is not a passing occasion, but a renewed pledge that the nation shall remain at the forefront of ambition, and that the University shall continue as a scientific and knowledge beacon contributing to shaping its future.
