On the occasion of World Parkinson's Day, and under the guidance of the Dean of the College, Dr. Abdullah bin Faleh Al-Sarhani, the College of Applied Medical Sciences organized an awareness lecture titled "Parkinson's Disease: Between Science and Awareness." The lecture was delivered by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sharif, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.
The lecture covered several key topics, including: an introduction to World Parkinson's Day, an overview of the disease, its symptoms and distinguishing signs, risk factors and prevention methods, early diagnosis and screening techniques, available treatments and recent scientific developments, as well as the role of physical therapy in improving patients' quality of life and addressing psychological and social aspects of the disease. Real-life stories and experiences of positive coping with the disease were also shared during the session.
This event aims to enhance community awareness about Parkinson's disease, provide up-to-date scientific information to support patients and their families, and encourage society to engage positively with this group.
