The College of Applied Medical Sciences celebrates World Medical Laboratory Day
Under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Falih Alsrhani, Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jouf University, the College celebrated World Medical Laboratory Day as part of its community outreach and awareness role, emphasizing the vital importance of medical laboratories in supporting the healthcare system and enhancing the quality of diagnostic services.
The event was organized by the College, represented by the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and aimed to raise awareness of the significance of laboratory medicine while highlighting the pivotal role of healthcare professionals in accurately diagnosing diseases and monitoring patients with high efficiency.
Awareness booths and presentations about medical laboratories
The event featured a number of awareness booths and educational displays showcasing the latest technologies used in medical laboratories, in addition to providing visitors with informative insights into the role of laboratory tests in early disease detection and the importance of adhering to quality and safety standards in laboratory practice.
Scientific lectures accompanying the celebration of World Medical Laboratory Day
The program also included several specialized scientific lectures addressing contemporary topics in medical laboratory sciences. Among them was a lecture on the pivotal role of medical laboratories in modern diagnosis and supporting healthcare, delivered by Dr. Eid Al-Shammari from the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, which highlighted the contribution of laboratory investigations to improving diagnostic accuracy and healthcare outcomes.
Another lecture addressed advanced wound dressings, presenting recent innovations in this field, including the use of beneficial bacteria and their role in accelerating wound healing and enhancing the quality of therapeutic care. The lecture was delivered by Ms. Awatif Al-Mutairi, a master’s student in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program.
Active participation of students
The event also witnessed active participation from the College’s students, who contributed by delivering awareness explanations and responding to visitors’ inquiries under the direct supervision of faculty members, reflecting their strong academic and practical competencies.
At the conclusion of the event, the College reaffirmed its commitment to organizing such qualitative initiatives that contribute to spreading health awareness and highlighting the essential role of medical laboratories in supporting accurate diagnosis, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in advancing the healthcare sector and improving quality of life.
