College of Applied Medical Sciences Organizes a Training Workshop on the Clinical Foundations and Practical Skills of Blood Sample Collection
As part of the Graduate Enrichment Initiative, the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Jouf University, in collaboration with King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital, a member of the Al Jouf Health Cluster, organized a training workshop entitled "Clinical Foundations and Practical Skills of Blood Sample Collection." The workshop reflects the College's ongoing commitment to enhancing the professional competencies of its students and graduates by equipping them with practical skills that align with the latest standards and best practices in healthcare.
The workshop aimed to strengthen participants' clinical and practical competencies in blood sample collection, one of the most fundamental procedures in clinical laboratory practice, while emphasizing patient safety, quality assurance, and adherence to professional standards to ensure accurate laboratory results.
The workshop was delivered by Mr. Hamoud bin Owaid Al-Ruwaili, a Master's student in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, who presented both the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of venipuncture, highlighting modern techniques that improve specimen quality and minimize pre-analytical errors.

Workshop Topics

The workshop covered four main topics:
•    Identifying the optimal veins for venipuncture based on clinical principles. 
•    Standard techniques and best practices for blood sample collection. 
•    Managing clinical challenges and complications associated with venipuncture. 
•    Quality assurance, prevention of pre-analytical errors, and recent advances in blood collection techniques. 
The workshop was held at the Training Center of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital, demonstrating the importance of collaboration between the College of Applied Medical Sciences and healthcare institutions in providing high-quality practical training environments that prepare competent healthcare professionals for the labor market.
This workshop is part of the Graduate Enrichment Initiative, which offers a series of professional development programs designed to bridge academic learning with clinical practice, strengthen partnerships with healthcare institutions, and equip students and graduates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare sector. These efforts support the mission of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in preparing highly qualified national professionals and contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
