On World Blood Donor Day: College of Applied Medical Sciences and Jouf Health Cluster Launch Blood Donation Campaign to Strengthen Blood Reserves and Save Lives
As an extension of Jouf University’s role in serving the community, reflecting its social responsibility and humanitarian mission, and reinforcing the values of generosity, giving, and social solidarity, the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Jouf University, in collaboration with the Jouf Health Cluster, represented by King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital and the Supporting Blood Bank in Al-Jouf, organized a blood donation campaign in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day. The campaign witnessed broad participation from the College’s faculty members, staff, and students.
The campaign aimed to strengthen blood bank reserves and provide the necessary blood units and blood products to support patients, injured individuals, and cases requiring urgent or regular blood transfusions. This initiative contributes to enhancing the readiness of healthcare facilities and ensuring the continuity of medical services for beneficiaries. The campaign also sought to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation as a noble humanitarian act that helps save lives and reflects the values of social responsibility and human solidarity.
College Staff Engagement with the Blood Donation Campaign
The campaign received strong engagement from faculty members, staff, and students who actively participated in this humanitarian initiative, recognizing the importance of blood donation and its vital role in supporting patients and those in need. The event also reinforced the culture of volunteerism and community engagement that Jouf University strives to instill among its members and students.
Implementation of Quality and Healthcare Safety Standards
A specialized medical team from King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital and the Supporting Blood Bank in Al-Jouf supervised the campaign in accordance with the highest standards of quality and healthcare safety. Donors were welcomed and underwent the necessary preliminary medical examinations to ensure their eligibility for donation before completing the donation process in a safe and secure environment that guaranteed donor safety and the quality of the collected blood units.
Health Awareness Activities Accompanying the Campaign
The campaign also included an educational and awareness component highlighting the importance of blood donation, its health and humanitarian benefits, and the eligibility requirements for donors. In addition, participants were introduced to the vital role blood banks play in supporting the healthcare system and meeting the needs of patients across various medical specialties, particularly critical cases, emergency incidents, and patients with chronic diseases who rely on regular blood transfusions.
