With the Participation of More Than 60 of Its Affiliates, Jouf University’s College of Dentistry Provides Awareness and Treatment Services Through the Mobile Clinic in Collaboration with Naqa Anti-Smoking Society
As part of Jouf University’s community mission and its health and awareness-raising role, the College of Dentistry at Jouf University implemented a qualitative initiative through the mobile clinic for smoking cessation and oral and dental health, in collaboration with Naqa Anti-Smoking Society, with the participation of more than 60 of the college’s affiliates. The initiative targeted university staff, students, and members of the community through a series of health, awareness, and treatment services that promote prevention, raise awareness, and contribute to improving quality of life.
The initiative included a range of integrated health services, including preliminary oral and dental health examinations, medical consultations, awareness and motivational materials, and treatment programs for those wishing to quit smoking. It also introduced beneficiaries to the most prominent health risks associated with smoking, its direct effects on oral and dental health, the respiratory system, and public health, as well as methods of prevention and treatment and mechanisms for obtaining appropriate health and behavioral support.
The initiative was implemented as part of Jouf University’s efforts to strengthen its community presence and activate the role of its health colleges in serving individuals and society through qualitative programs with direct impact. These programs contribute to spreading health awareness, promoting preventive behaviors, and supporting initiatives aimed at building a healthy and aware society capable of adopting better lifestyles.
The university emphasized that this initiative represents a model of integration between health education, volunteer work, and social responsibility. The participation of the College of Dentistry’s affiliates contributed to providing a field experience that combines professional and humanitarian dimensions, enabling students and health practitioners to contribute to community service and apply their knowledge and skills in preventive and treatment programs directly related to beneficiaries’ needs.
The initiative also reflects the College of Dentistry’s commitment to expanding the scope of its services beyond classrooms, laboratories, and educational clinics, and to delivering health and awareness services to beneficiaries in their various environments. This reinforces the concept of a university present within its community and capable of transforming academic knowledge into tangible health and developmental impact.
These efforts are aligned with Jouf University’s strategic objectives of strengthening community partnerships, improving the quality of services provided to society, and enabling health colleges to play their role in prevention, awareness, and treatment. They also support the university’s goals of developing qualitative programs that contribute to health and social development in the Al-Jouf region.
The initiative is also linked to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aim to enhance quality of life, prevent disease, raise health awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and activate the role of the nonprofit sector and community partnerships in supporting national development. This makes health volunteering an important contributor to building a more aware, healthy, and sustainable society.
The university valued its effective partnership with Naqa Anti-Smoking Society and its specialized efforts in raising awareness of the risks of smoking and assisting those wishing to quit. It affirmed that cooperation between educational and health institutions and the nonprofit sector contributes to maximizing community impact, expanding the reach of beneficiaries, and achieving more sustainable outcomes in the fields of awareness, prevention, and treatment.
On this occasion, the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, affirmed that the implementation of this initiative comes as an extension of the university’s mission in serving the community and strengthening its developmental and health role. He noted that the university seeks, through its colleges, programs, and initiatives, to be an active partner in improving quality of life, supporting health awareness, and providing qualitative services that meet community needs.
