Academic Quality Community

The Academic Quality Community is a knowledge-based platform that aims to enhance awareness of quality and academic accreditation concepts, and to clarify the role of each group within the university community in achieving quality education, improving performance efficiency, and ensuring continuous improvement.

The idea of this community is based on the principle that quality is a shared responsibility. It begins with clear educational practices and extends to academic leadership, quality units, and students, ensuring effective learning outcomes and an outstanding educational experience.

Quality in Teaching and Learning

National accreditation standards emphasize that the quality of an academic program is measured by the extent to which students achieve the intended learning outcomes. Faculty members are key contributors to achieving quality education through designing learning experiences, implementing them, assessing their impact, and continuously improving them.

What Does Quality Mean for Faculty Members?

Quality in teaching means that the educational process is based on planning, alignment, measurement, and improvement through:

  • Teaching based on clear and measurable learning outcomes.
  • Aligning course content and activities with program learning outcomes.
  • Using diverse assessment tools to measure students’ actual learning.
  • Analyzing assessment results and taking evidence-based improvement actions.
  • Developing courses based on performance results and feedback.

    Link to Accreditation Standards

  • Faculty members’ practices are linked to several accreditation standards, including:

  • Program Accreditation: teaching and learning, faculty members, assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Institutional Accreditation: teaching and learning, human resources, quality of academic performance.
  • Quality in teaching means that every learning activity has a purpose, every assessment has meaning, and every result leads to improvement.

Quality as a Tool for Leadership and Decision-Making

Accreditation standards view academic leadership as the main driver of vision alignment, implementation quality, and sustainable improvement. Effective leadership does not merely monitor performance; it guides efforts, supports teams, and transforms data into actionable development decisions.

What Does Quality Mean for Academic Leaders?

For academic leaders, quality means building a clear work system based on data, supporting improvement, and ensuring performance effectiveness through:

  • Making decisions based on reliable data and performance indicators.
  • Clarifying roles, authorities, and responsibilities.
  • Regularly monitoring the performance of programs and colleges.
  • Supporting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Empowering teams to implement development plans.
  • Linking assessment results to planning and decision-making.

Students as the Core of Quality and Accreditation

National accreditation places students at the center of the educational process and measures the quality of an academic program through the student experience, the level of support provided, and the achievement of learning outcomes. Therefore, student participation in assessment and feedback is an essential element in improving the quality of education.

What Does Quality Mean for Students?

For students, quality means having an educational experience that is clear, fair, supportive, and connected to verifiable learning outcomes through:

  • Clarity of the study plan, program outcomes, and course outcomes.
  • Fairness and transparency of assessment tools and evaluation criteria.
  • Availability of academic, advising, and learning support.
  • Opportunities to provide feedback and participate in program improvement.
  • Clarity of academic rights and responsibilities.

Improvement of educational services based on students’ opinions and needs.
