Under the Chairmanship of the President of Jouf University, the University Council Holds Its Sixth Meeting and Approves a Package of Distinguished Academic Programs to Enhance Institutional Competitiveness
The University Council of Jouf University held its sixth meeting for the academic year 1447H, chaired by His Excellency the President of the University, Professor Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, in the presence of the University Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges, Deans of Supporting Deanships, and Council members. The meeting was held within the framework of effective institutional governance and as part of the University’s ongoing academic and administrative development efforts The Council commenced its session by reviewing key performance indicators and the efforts exerted to advance the educational and research systems. It emphasized the importance of integrating strategic planning with operational execution to enhance efficiency and improve the quality of outcomes, in alignment with the University’s direction toward institutional excellence and sustainability
In support of academic transition pathways, the Council approved the Preparatory Year Program for admission to undergraduate programs at the University. The program aims to enhance the academic and skill readiness of newly admitted students by offering supportive learning tracks that bridge knowledge gaps, develop analytical and critical thinking skills, and improve linguistic and technical competencies The approval of this program aligns with the University’s commitment to improving the quality of educational outcomes and providing a stimulating learning environment that supports students from the beginning of their academic journey and establishes a strong foundation for sustainable success
The Council also approved the establishment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Chemistry, marking a strategic step toward strengthening graduate studies and advancing high-quality research in nationally prioritized scientific fields In addition, the Council approved the launch of an Executive Master’s Program in Risk Management, Emergency Management, and Business Continuity. The program aims to prepare executive leaders specialized in risk management, proactive crisis response planning, and ensuring business continuity across various sectors This program responds to accelerating global transformations and the growing need for qualified national professionals capable of managing operational and strategic risks, thereby enhancing institutional stability, strengthening governance efficiency, and supporting national transformation pathways
The Council further discussed a number of academic and administrative matters listed on the agenda and adopted appropriate decisions to enhance the university work environment, ensure institutional sustainability, and improve the quality of services provided to students and university staff At the conclusion of the session, His Excellency the University President affirmed that the Council’s resolutions reflect the University’s commitment to continuous development and diversification of its academic programs in alignment with labor market needs, thereby strengthening its competitiveness at both the national and regional levels. He noted that Jouf University continues to move confidently toward achieving its strategic objectives and contributing effectively to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in developing human capabilities, enhancing education quality, and promoting research and innovation He further emphasized that the upcoming phase requires greater integration between colleges and supporting deanships, and collaborative teamwork to ensure the effective implementation of the newly approved programs and to achieve tangible positive impact for students and the wider community.
