Chaired by His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, the Jouf University Council convened its seventh session for the academic year 1447 AH and approved a number of strategic decisions
The Jouf University Council held its seventh session for the academic year 1447 AH, chaired by His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, and attended by the esteemed Council members. The session was convened as part of the Council’s statutory role in formulating academic policies, approving academic programs, and monitoring institutional performance indicators, in a manner that strengthens the University’s journey toward leadership, excellence, and sustainability. The Council commenced its session by reviewing the agenda items and deliberating on the relevant matters, issuing the necessary resolutions.
The Council approved the awarding of academic degrees to a number of postgraduate students who have graduated or are expected to graduate during the second semester of the academic year 1447 AH. This approval reflects the quality of the University’s research pathways, the efficiency of academic supervision, and its commitment to graduating qualified researchers equipped with rigorous scientific research skills and capable of contributing to addressing national priority issues.
The Council also approved the establishment of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Applied Medical Sciences. This strategic step represents a qualitative addition to the University’s advanced health programs and aims to prepare specialized national cadres in precise laboratory diagnostics.
The program reflects the University’s role in supporting healthcare transformation and contributing to the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program and the Human Capability Development Program by preparing research leaders who will enhance the quality of healthcare services in the Kingdom.
In alignment with evolving knowledge trends and labor market demands, the Council further approved the introduction of new academic tracks for the academic year 1448 AH, enhancing academic flexibility, supporting interdisciplinary studies, and increasing graduates’ readiness for future careers.
The Council also approved the admission requirements, criteria, and intake numbers for postgraduate programs, ensuring competitiveness, fairness, transparency, and the enhancement of academic input quality.
Additionally, the Council approved the proposed number of male and female students to be admitted for the academic year 1448 AH, along with their admission requirements in:
- Applied College programs
- Academic bridging programs
- Regulations and admission criteria for gifted students
During the session, His Excellency the University President affirmed that the Council’s decisions reflect an advanced stage of institutional maturity achieved by the University. He emphasized that the measured expansion of postgraduate programs, the introduction of specialized programs, and the adoption of precise admission standards constitute fundamental pillars in the University’s pursuit of academic excellence.
His Excellency further noted that the University operates under a clear strategic vision focused on:

- Achieving alignment with national development plans
