This complexity is derived from a number of factors including the confluence of professions [e.g., medicine, nursing, pharmacy, accounting, nutrition, engineering, physical therapy, etc.], multiple and different stakeholders, emergent technologies, and the increasing production of new medical and public health-related knowledge. Understanding this complexity also requires knowledge of the spiraling cost of health care services, the growing emphasis on quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction and the increased scrutiny of health care organizations’ financial and clinical performance. As a result, the skills and knowledge required to manage healthcare organization, health services organization and non- governmental organization (NGO) has become more important than ever before. Fundamentals of Management for healthcare organization (HCO) Health services organization (HSO) and Non-governmental organization (NGO) is a blended course designed for students who seek an understanding of the management of Saudi health care, organizations. The main aim of this course is to introduce students to the basics of biostatistics and equip them with biostatistical approaches useful in investigating health-related events. This course will equip students with a basic understanding of statistical concepts, interpretation of numeric data and basic analytical methods commonly used in the public health. This includes both descriptive and inferential statistical methods including commonly used tests of significance and their practical application and interpretation. Upon completion of course, students should have acquired an understanding of the application of biostatistics in health research and they will be trained to critically appraise epidemiologic studies, understand the synthesis and integration of epidemiologic research, and causal inference in epidemiologic research.

This course enables students to understand the basic concepts of epidemiology so that they can apply them in designing and appraising research projects as well as in understanding and evaluating medical literature. Health care managers and service providers, whether dealing with communities or clinical services, are required to analyze to ascertain the status, needs and other aspects of health care for evidence- based decision making and effective and efficient services. Infectious and non-infectious diseases can only be prevented and controlled with the basic understanding of epidemiology.
