President of Jouf University Meets with the Dean of the College of Engineering and Reviews Its Annual Report, Commending Its Achievements, Global Ranking Distinctions, Innovations, and Local and International Partnerships

His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received the Dean of the College of Engineering, along with the college’s vice deans and department heads. During the meeting, they reviewed the college’s annual report for the academic year 1446 AH, highlighting remarkable achievements across academic, research, and community domains. These included academic accreditations, research excellence, international awards, and impactful community programs.

Prof. Al-Shaya commended the college for its outstanding accomplishments during the academic year, notably in the area of academic accreditation. The Civil and Mechanical Engineering programs obtained full programmatic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, while the Electrical Engineering program maintained its dual accreditation from both ABET and NCAAA. Furthermore, the college’s disciplines achieved high global rankings — appearing in the 251–300 category worldwide according to the Times Higher Education 2025 ranking, and maintaining its presence in the QS World University Rankings.

On the research and innovation front, the college published more than 269 indexed research papers, marking a 22% increase over the previous year. In terms of awards, its students won two gold and two silver medals at the iCAN 2024 International Innovation Competition in Canada and earned top positions in the Renewable Energy Student Innovation Contest. Faculty members also received prestigious honors, including the Engineer Tarek Al-Qasabi Award for Excellence in Civil Engineering and the Al-Jouf Award for Excellence and Innovation in Scientific Research.

In community engagement and volunteerism, the college offered more than 432 volunteer opportunities, totaling 767 volunteer hours, and launched several notable initiatives such as Enhancing Traffic Safety in Al-Jouf Cities and Developing the Guideline for Organizing Public School Sites in the Region, in addition to numerous training programs and public lectures that benefited hundreds of community members.

The college also organized the Engineering Projects and Innovations Exhibition (1446 AH), showcasing students’ creativity across disciplines and strengthening their connection with the industrial and societal sectors.

To enhance international and local collaboration, the college signed several memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements with distinguished institutions, including Ningbo University (China), the University of Southampton (UK), the Prince Sultan Center for Defense Studies and Research, and the Al-Jouf Chamber of Commerce, particularly in the field of renewable energy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Al-Shaya expressed his appreciation for the college’s outstanding accomplishments, emphasizing that these achievements reflect a spirit of institutional teamwork and represent a significant milestone in the university’s journey toward realizing its vision of becoming a nationally leading model with global standards in education, research, innovation, and community service.

The Dean of the College of Engineering, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the President’s continued support, affirming the college’s commitment to pursuing excellence and implementing its strategic plan in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
