Jouf University President Reviews the Annual Report of the College of Applied Medical Sciences and Its Key Achievements and Future Targets
His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Abdullah bin Faleh Al-Sarhani, and the College’s vice deans. During the meeting, the College’s annual report for the 1447 AH academic year (2025–2026) was presented, highlighting performance indicators and key achievements in education, scientific research, innovation, and community service, as well as the College’s future targets and development projects.
His Excellency reviewed the College’s progress throughout the academic year and its accomplishments across several strategic areas, including the quality of teaching and learning, scientific research and innovation, partnership development, social responsibility, institutional excellence, and academic accreditation. These efforts form part of the College’s second strategic plan, “Development and Leadership,” and strengthen its role in preparing qualified healthcare professionals and producing applied research aligned with the priorities of the healthcare sector.
The report revealed growing academic and research activity. The College enrolled 732 students and graduated 91 students during the academic year. It also published 235 research papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, including 94 papers in first-quartile (Q1) journals, generating 9,850 scientific citations. These figures reflect the quality, visibility, and impact of the College’s research output.
In the areas of educational quality and academic accreditation, the meeting highlighted the international accreditation granted by AHPGS to the College’s master’s programs in Clinical Laboratory Sciences across their various tracks, in addition to accreditation from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. The College also introduced several specialized academic programs, most notably the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Health Rehabilitation bachelor’s program and a PhD program in Clinical Laboratory Sciences with four tracks.
The report’s indicators showed that student satisfaction with the educational experience reached 94%, while faculty satisfaction with the learning environment stood at 94.3%. The undergraduate student retention rate reached 89%, reflecting the continued development of the College’s academic environment and the effectiveness of its teaching, learning, and student-support practices.
His Excellency the University President emphasized that the College’s achievements represent an outstanding model of integration between educational quality, applied research, and community service. He noted that the value of academic achievement is amplified when it is transformed into beneficial knowledge, qualified healthcare professionals, and innovative solutions that improve quality of life and serve society.
Scientific research and innovation emerged as one of the College’s most distinguished areas of achievement, with 22 patents and industrial designs filed with intellectual property offices in Australia and the United Kingdom. These efforts culminated in the College securing first place in three categories of the 2025 University President’s Award for Excellence: High-Impact Initiatives for the “Qader: Together to Overcome Disability” initiative, Innovation and Patents, and Website and Media Content. A student research team from the College also won first place in the Health Sciences Track at the “Wa’ed” Student Innovation Exhibition.
To enhance graduate readiness and professional impact, the College launched the “Graduate Enrichment” initiative to develop graduates’ skills and support their transition into the labor market, alongside the “Imtiyaz” platform, which automates procedures related to training and the clinical internship year. The indicators showed an employment rate of 47% among Clinical Laboratory Sciences graduates and 46% among Physical Therapy graduates, with an average starting salary of SAR 7,000, reflecting the quality and competitiveness of the College’s graduates in the healthcare sector.
The College also maintained an active presence in social responsibility and volunteer work. It offered 398 volunteer opportunities involving 520 male and female volunteers, who contributed a total of 46,648 volunteer hours. The College also implemented more than 38 community events and initiatives benefiting over 5,000 people. These efforts included the “Rehabilitate and Empower” initiative, World Physical Therapy Day activities, breast cancer awareness campaigns, and organ and blood donation campaigns, in addition to several programs promoting health awareness and quality of life.
