Jouf University President Welcomes the Dean of the College of Science, Vice Deans, and Department Heads, Commends the College’s Achievements and Global Ranking Excellence
His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received today in his office the Dean of the College of Science, the vice deans, and department heads. The meeting included a review of the college’s annual report for the academic year 1446, highlighting remarkable achievements in academics, research, and community service. These accomplishments were reflected in academic accreditations, research excellence, international awards, and community engagement programs.
Dr. Al-Shaya praised the college’s outstanding performance and its strong presence in global subject rankings (QS – Times – Shanghai). He stressed that such successes represent an extension of the university’s mission to enhance educational quality, empower research and innovation, and serve the community, in alignment with the university’s strategic goals and Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in human capacity development and the knowledge economy.
It is worth noting that all four academic programs of the college (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics) have received full academic accreditation through 2028. The college also updated its curricula and transformed field training into a cooperative program extending over six months, benefiting more than 240 students with a 100% participation rate, including 11% who trained at leading institutions such as Aramco.
In research, faculty members published 1,464 internationally indexed papers, accumulating over 57,000 citations, with 25.8% of these in journals ranked among the top 10% globally. The college also registered a U.S. patent for eco-friendly biodiesel production and is preparing 10 more patents locally and internationally. Fourteen faculty members were listed among Elsevier’s most influential scientists worldwide. Additionally, graduate students published seven international research papers in the first half of 2025.
On the student level, college students earned gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Geneva International Inventions Exhibition, achieved top ranks in the 14th Scientific Forum and the “Waed” exhibition, registered more than 70 innovative graduation projects, and secured 17 awards for graduate students in Geneva. Both faculty and students also received prestigious awards, most notably the Jouf Award for Excellence and Innovation.
In community service and partnerships, the college carried out 73 activities and volunteer initiatives benefiting over 1,400 participants, in addition to 244 volunteering opportunities totaling more than 16,000 hours. The college also organized 23 lectures and workshops in energy, environment, health, and sustainability, and launched initiatives such as the Eco-Sphere environmental program and enrichment summer programs. Furthermore, it signed cooperation agreements with local and international partners, including the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the University of Florida, and the National Center for Sustainability, while working on new collaborations with KAUST in student exchange and joint research.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Al-Shaya emphasized that these achievements reflect the collective efforts of the college’s faculty and staff, representing a vital step toward realizing the university’s vision of becoming a nationally exemplary and globally competitive institution in education, research, innovation, and community service. The Dean of the College expressed his gratitude to the President for his continuous support, reaffirming the college’s commitment to sustaining excellence and fulfilling the university’s strategic goals and Vision 2030.
