Initiative to Promote Oral Health and Combat Smoking
Driven by its commitment to community engagement and its role in promoting public health and disease prevention, the College of Dentistry at Jouf University launched a distinguished initiative through its Mobile Clinic for Tobacco Cessation and Oral Health Promotion. The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Naqa Society for Tobacco Control and involved the participation of more than 60 faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals from the College.
The initiative targeted university students, staff, and members of the wider community by providing a comprehensive range of preventive, educational, and clinical services. These services included oral health examinations, health education activities, awareness programs highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco use on oral and general health, as well as the provision of professional counseling and preventive guidance.
This initiative reflects Jouf University’s commitment to community service and its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It supports the Vision’s goal of fostering a vibrant society with healthier individuals by promoting health awareness, strengthening disease prevention, and establishing effective partnerships and sustainable initiatives that contribute to improving public health and advancing community development.
The College emphasized that this initiative represents a successful model of integration between academic education and community service. It further demonstrates the University’s commitment to leveraging its academic expertise and human resources to improve community health, promote health literacy, and foster positive health behaviors that support enhanced quality of life.
