Standing Committees

The committee is concerned with monitoring the implementation of the Research Ethics Law on Living Creatures and ensuring researchers’ compliance with national and international standards in this field. It aims to promote responsible research practices that uphold scientific integrity and protect the rights and welfare of living creatures. The committee also works on developing mechanisms and procedures that facilitate researchers’ work while ensuring full adherence to relevant regulations and policies.

Committee Duties:
(1) Implementing the directives stated in Royal Decree No. (M/59) dated 14/09/1431 AH, related to the Research Ethics Law on Living Creatures issued by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (321) dated 13/09/1431 AH.
(2) Operating in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Executive Regulations of the Research Ethics Law on Living Creatures issued by His Excellency the President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology on 29/01/1433 AH, including all subsequent amendments approved under Resolution No. (4746) dated 09/06/1443 AH.
(3) Reviewing research applications submitted by university researchers, recommending approval for surveys and research tools, and preparing forms to facilitate the committee’s work.
(4) Forming subcommittees and seeking assistance from experts as needed to carry out its duties.

The committee is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Scientific Research and Innovation Bylaws and their executive rules to ensure an active, high-quality research environment characterized by integrity and compliance with approved standards. It aims to organize research activities within the university in accordance with the highest academic standards that promote development and innovation. The committee also contributes to the activation of research policies and coordination among academic entities to achieve the university’s strategic objectives.

Committee Duties:
The committee operates in accordance with the powers and responsibilities stipulated in the Scientific Research and Innovation Bylaws and their executive rules, approved by the University Council Resolution No. (1/2/1446).

The committee is responsible for supervising graduate studies programs and ensuring their effective implementation in alignment with the highest academic and organizational quality standards. It aims to enhance coordination between colleges and the Deanship of Graduate Studies to ensure the efficiency of academic and research operations. The committee also contributes to developing graduate studies policies and programs in line with the university’s strategic goals and to strengthening its research and academic outcomes.

Committee Duties:
(1) Approving committees formed within colleges that implement graduate programs.
(2) Approving assignments related to examination supervision.
(3) Reviewing and approving class schedules submitted by colleges.
(4) Approving collaborations with faculty members from outside the university in graduate programs.
(5) Reviewing requests submitted by colleges regarding the project and its needs, and referring them to the appropriate authorities.
(6) Studying developmental proposals related to the graduate studies project, including all approved forms and templates.
(7) Approving faculty members and program coordinators for the project based on nominations submitted by colleges and recommended by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
