From Education to Research and Community Service: The College of Applied Medical Sciences Reaps the Fruits of 2025
In light of the continuous support of His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, and the close follow-up of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Abdullah bin Falleh Alserhani, the College of Applied Medical Sciences continued throughout 2025 to achieve qualitative accomplishments that have strengthened its academic, research, and societal standing and contributed to advancing the health education system in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Research excellence that drives innovation and knowledge
During 2025, the College witnessed remarkable growth in scientific research, with the number of scholarly articles indexed in Scopus and Web of Science reaching approximately 234 publications, and total citations exceeding 9,404, in addition to the publication of 4 research papers by postgraduate students. The College has also contributed to strengthening the innovation ecosystem by registering 10 patents and securing 36 research grants for its affiliates, reflecting a highly supportive research environment that fosters creativity and scientific excellence.
Accredited Academic Programs and a Qualitative Expansion in Postgraduate Studies
The College offers distinguished undergraduate academic programs that have received full accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, ensuring the quality of educational outcomes and their alignment with the needs of the healthcare labor market. At the postgraduate level, the College offers a Master of Clinical Laboratory Sciences program with three specialized qualitative tracks accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, namely: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Medical Microbiology. The College also participates in offering a Master’s program in Health Services and Hospital Management in collaboration with the College of Business as one of the University’s distinctive interdisciplinary programs, thereby enhancing integration between health and administrative disciplines and contributing to the preparation of qualified health leaders. As part of its developmental plans, the College launched in 2025 a Master of Science in Physical Therapy program with multiple tracks that meet the needs of the healthcare labor market and support the preparation of national competencies specialized in rehabilitation and therapy in accordance with the highest academic and professional standards.
An Active Community Role and a Broad Voluntary Impact
As part of its social responsibility, the College implemented 360 volunteer opportunities, totaling 1,800 volunteer hours, with the participation of 2,520 male and female volunteers, in addition to carrying out 45 community responsibility activities and 17 community initiatives. The College also participated in 3 awareness exhibitions and booths and 10 World Days events, with more than 6,000 beneficiaries benefiting from these initiatives.
Professional and Academic Development that Enhances Staff Competencies
In the area of professional and academic development, the College implemented 94 training courses, including 25 courses for faculty members, 35 courses for College staff and students, and 38 training courses for students in professional certifications, in addition to 17 workshops, 18 specialized training courses, and 3 scientific symposia. These efforts were crowned by the College, its staff, and its students receiving numerous awards and recognitions during 2025, reaffirming its academic, research, and societal excellence.
A Continuous Journey Towards Excellence
The Dean of the College affirmed that the achievements realized in 2025 represent an important milestone in the College’s journey and constitute a practical starting point for a new phase of development in 2026, supported by the University leadership’s unwavering backing and by integrated efforts grounded in a strong team spirit. He indicated that, over the coming year, the College will continue to develop its academic programs and diversify its specializations in line with its strategic plan, while strengthening its scientific research system and expanding its community impact, in a manner that contributes to preparing qualified healthcare professionals and achieving sustainable health development that serves the nation and society.
