As part of the Graduate Enrichment Initiative, the College of Applied Medical Sciences is organizing a workshop on effective strategies for writing a scientific master's thesis.
Under the direct supervision of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Falih Al-Sarhani, Dean of the College, and as part of the Graduate Enrichment Initiative, the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Jouf University organized a scientific workshop entitled “Effective Strategies in Writing a Master's Thesis.” This workshop was part of the college's efforts to enhance the scientific research skills of graduate students and graduates, and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare theses according to sound methodological and academic principles.
The workshop aimed to empower participants to develop their abilities in planning and effectively managing the writing of theses, in addition to introducing them to best practices in preparing academic research, thereby contributing to raising the quality of research outputs and promoting a culture of scientific research among students.
Workshop topics
The workshop addressed several important scientific topics, most notably how to create a realistic research timeline and overcome writer's block. It also covered the distinction between expository and critical analytical writing styles in academic writing, and how to select appropriate statistical and analytical tools for research that align with the nature and objectives of the study.
Furthermore, the workshop explored best practices for utilizing feedback from academic supervisors to enhance research performance and improve the quality of the researcher's scientific experience, thereby strengthening the efficiency of thesis preparation and ensuring adherence to required academic standards.
Organizing the process of writing a scientific thesis
The workshop was presented by Ms. Ghram bint Yousef Al-Ruwaili, Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. She reviewed a range of guidelines and practical experiences to help researchers organize the process of writing their theses and overcome challenges they may encounter during the preparation stages.
The workshop witnessed significant attendance and interaction from graduate students and those interested in scientific research, reflecting the college's commitment to supporting scientific research and developing the capabilities of its students and graduates.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific initiatives and programs organized by the College of Applied Medical Sciences to enhance the research environment and develop the skills of young researchers, in line with the university's focus on supporting academic and research excellence.
